New Arrivals for the Holidays

Image
Thanksgiving is over, can you believe that this weekend it will be December? This year just flew by. December is a big flower buying month but that doesn't mean that we don't have non-flower gifts as part of the shop offerings. Whenever new items arrive, it's like an early Christmas for me. Take these new Raku Potterworks incense holders. Each one has a different botanical or metaphysical design. Priced at just $14.99 these would make a wonderful gift. Each one is boxed and comes with a description of how they are created. Each is hand made and no too look exactly the same. Raku generally refers to a type of low-firing process that was inspired by traditional Japanese raku firing. Western-style raku usually involves removing pottery from the kiln while at bright red heat and placing it into containers with combustible materials. Once the materials ignite, the containers are closed. This produces an intense reduction atmosphere which affects the colors and glazes.  The d...

Air Plants and Terrariums - for the home and office

Image
Doesn't it feel good to have natural , organic elements in your home and office? I truly think you feel better when you are surrounded by nature and air plants are a great addition to any setting. Are you away a lot? Do you have limited space to dedicate to plants? If so, air plants might be perfect for you. We've had fun stocking them in the store and folks are loving them. Take this mini hanging terrarium. For only $14.95 this plant is perfect for home or office. Hang in the window, over a sink or attach to a window with a suction cup. Air plants do need water but not often and no soil needed (hence the air plant name).  If you have a little more room to dedicate, why not have us make you a larger terrarium with multiple air plants ? Clear gems, natural river stones, moss, sand - the design options are limitless!    We love these little sphere terrarium plant bowls. Add some colored sand and hit with a touch of water once a week and you are good to go! They ...

Angels

Image
Have you ever noticed how many people just love angels and even collect them? We've always had angels in our shop but we recently brought in a few more styles and have more arriving later on this month. Angels make great gift for the home and garden for everything from birthdays to sympathy.   This angel has a modern feel but is still very soft and almost romantic, don't you think? The angel below is over 16" tall and has the sweetest face. We love adding angels to our floral designs but they make a great gift just by themselves.   Be sure to check out facebook pages to see all our new arrivals as they come in!

With lots of birthdays and anniversaries taking place in January, in addition to our beautiful floral designs, we have some neat gift ideas. Love this new Mother and Child statue. Over the hill balloons and wine glasses make a memorable gift.   We love those girlie gifts here at the store - purses, wine glass, candles and European style bud vases. Treat yourself or shop for a girl.   We just brought in a line of books on life, weddings and staying strong along with blank journals and more Yankee Candle diffusers just arrived for the winter. These funny wine glasses say "Ms. Alwa...

Free Book Exchange at Our Yardley Shop

Image
Did you know that we have a free book exchange at our Yardley Pennsylvania store? Started about 5 years ago, our "free library" of books has grown to over 500 in all genres. How it works is you come into the shop with a book (or 2) and take a book. It's that simple. No purchases is necessary and folks seem to enjoy it! Mysteries and romance novels top of the list of desired reading of course but we have self help, business and biographies as well!  Both Nora Roberts and Linda Lael Miller are popular reading at the book exchange. If you've never picked up a book by either of the authors, you really are missing some great stories. In addition to the historical and contemporary romance categories, we have many self help books and business biographies of well known entrepreneurs.  Debbie Maccomber is another popular author and we have many of her recent paper backs in addition to Susan Mallory, James Michner, Fern Michaels and Dan Brown. If you have never...

Banksia

Image
We love getting rare and unusual flowers here at the shop and Banksia is one of them!  Banksia is a genus of around 170 species plant family Proteacea. If you have ever seen our very cool Pincushino Proteas at the shop, they are from the same plant family. These Australian wildflowers are easily recognized by their characteristic flower spikes and fruiting "cones" and heads.  Heavy producers of nectar, Banksias form a vital part of the food chain in the Australian bush. They are an important food source for all sorts of nectariferous animals, including birds, bats, rats, possums, sting less bees and a host of invertebrates. Furthermore, they are of economic importance to Australia's nursery and cut flower industries.  When we purchase these super cool flowers, they come by way of the Dutch Flower Market. Long lasting and quite large, our designers love making arrangements with them. If you are looking for something a bit unusual, per...

Just Arrived Fresh This Week - Colorful Flowers

Image
When I say that we have some colorful flowers that have just arrived, I'm not kidding! Wow, the colors in the shop this week run from all the fall arrivals of reds, oranges and red to browns and even deep rich blues. Over 300 assorted colored gerbera daisies arrived from Holland this week and the flowers span almost 5 inches across. Some have dark centers like these yellow ones while others have a light center but all are amazing. Each week we try to get at least one variety of hydrangea that is a little bit different, either in the color or the same of the florets. These are called - You and Me Together Classic and they are an amazing shade of blue. Yes, they grow that color naturally without any help from dyes or paints. This particular variety seems to last a very long time and as it ages, it dries almost the exact same shade of blue with very little fading. Talk about a flower that gives it's all! To see these and more of our floral designs be sure to check out...

What's New at the Shop

Image
Can you believe it, in just a couple short weeks it will be St. Patrick's Day? We always love that holiday around here and this year with it falling on a Saturday, we will be going all out. We've ordered in plenty of green balloons, green carnations and will even have little shamrock plants to sell. Shop Coordinator Sheryl is going to be making calls to local Pubs and Restaurants to see if they want to spruce up their places this year and really make the holiday one to remember! I personally can't wait!  Ok, so anyone that knows me knows I am addicted to peeps. How cute was our display of yellow chick peeps and daffodils. The perfect combination for spring!  We sell tons fo our decorated cookies and even though I loved the ones shaped like fall leaves and poinsettia flowers, I could not be happier to see the spring flower ones arrive once again. A fresh shipment just arrived of Get Well and Happy Birthday decorated cookies came in too. Lots of birthdays this tim...

Affordable Gift Ideas for Valentine's Day

Image
I know, I know, there are some folks out there that absolutely hate holidays like Valentine's Day. They think they were invented by gift companies to take money out of their pockets. Well, I don't think that's true but whether you spend a lot on your Valentine or not, I do think it's nice to at least recognize the day with a special treat or gift. This year we've order in lots of thoughtful gifts that are not only cute but really affordable. I remember when I was in high school, all I wanted from my guy was a cute card that said he loved me. I can tell you for sure when I was 16 or 17, if I received this card, I would have been a happy girl. We have lots of cards to choose from priced from .99 to $3.50. Now that's affordable right?  What about this sweet love picture frame. Add a photo of the two of you, wrap it up and imagine their surprise. This frame is priced right and comes in a really nice gift box.  We love these little boxes!! We plan on making...

What's New at the Shop - January 2012

Image
I have to say, that this past year we had lots of fun bringing in new giftware items. The different gifts we brought in for Christmas sold so well that we decided to really punch up the volume of gifts at the shop this spring. That being said, it didn't take me long to hop on my favorite gift websites and stock up. Coffee mugs sold extremely well for Christmas and so these mugs above should be popular to. My favorite one is actually hidden in the back and says "Stop me before I volunteer again". :o)  These little kitty banks are so cute and will be affordable additions to flower arrangements and goodie bags for birthdays and new babies, don't you think?  The wine glasses we had this past holiday sold completely out and so having these everyday styles will be a great additon to our giftware. These glasses have funny sayings and colorful designs. Personally, I love anything with poka dots!  I brought in these lanterns for the spring and couldn't help bu...

Valentine's Day Myths Debunked

Image
•Do I have to give red roses on Valentine's Day? NO! People love receiving flowers such as tulips, daisies, gerbers and orchids, not to mention roses in other colors. Mixed spring bouquets are the next most popular choice to send on Valentine's Day from our shop. •Does my flower gift have to be a huge bouquet of flowers and cost a lot? Of course not! A single bloom you picked out by hand at your local florist will mean just as much as a whole dozen of roses. Your flower purchase should be relative to what you feel is comfortable for you to spend. There are many options to choose from. Save some real dough by checking out our promotion codes at the bottom of this e-mail! •Why do red flowers seem to cost more during the holiday? Simple supply and demand. Not enough supply and high demand.Go with the crowd and send red flowers or stand out by being creative and most likely, you'll save some money. •What are some other great gift ideas for the holiday? We sells ...

It's Halloween Time Again

Image
It's official - Halloween is almost here! The designers have started filling orders for novelty arrangements similar to the one designer Norman was creating yesterday. Tiny ghosts, witches brooms, gerbers and fall leaves are included in the Ghostly Greetings bouquet.  What a fun arrangement to send  to "ghosts and goblins" of any age, don't you think?

Stock!

Image
Ah, the fragrance and beauty of stock. Never heard of the flower? Such a strange name for a gorgeous bloom, right?  I must confess, that not everyone "gets" this flower and those not familiar with it's ruffled flowers often complain thinking that there is not the way it should look, but alas it is! That being said, it's still one of my favorite flowers of all time (next to roses, of course) not only because of those crinkled flowers all in a row but also because of their amazing fragrance.  Their long graceful line comes in so handy when creating floral designs and the colors of white, cream, lavenders into rich purples and Burgundy's also make for pretty arrangements mixed with other flowers or used just by themselves. Most of the stock we sell here in the shop is grown right in the U. S. of A, in California to be exact. I love that it's homegrown, right out in gorgeous fields. Can you imagine what it must ...
