Christmas Wedding Flowers ~ looking back to last year

Image
Christmas Wedding Flowers by Monday Morning Flowers Christmas Wedding Flowers by Monday Morning Flowers ~ What a wonderful time of year to celebrate with family and friends and get married. It's hard to believe that we created these pretty floral designs for a wedding almost a year ago. St. Paul's church in downtown Princeton was the site for the ceremony and as you can see, what fully decorated for Christmas with lit trees and huge red poinsettia plants. Our bride Alisandra wore an elegant ballgown while her sister was dressed in a red dress with crystal sleeves. The ends of the pews had accents of fresh holly cut from the Farm the bride grew up on.  Once the guests arrived to the Nassau Inn, they were greeted with elegant wreaths and a large boxwood tree decorated in red roses , berries and white doves.  As the guests took their seats they were treated to a dance by the bride and her father. So sweet!! The bride was radiant the her Father looked so handsome in his t...

A November Wedding

Image
One of our most favorite Wedding venues is the Inn at Lambertville Station. We not only love the setting but working with Melle and her team is amazing. Early November had us creating gorgeous floral designs for Allison and her new husband Chris. The chuppah was provided by Adams Rental and we added light touches of orange mokara orchids for a simple but elegant look.  Moving into the Ballroom, we created 2 different styles of centerpieces ~ one high and one low, like these cylinder vases filled with orchids and grass with a simple burgundy ribbon wrap.   The tall floral displays were created in our 28" tall candle holders with fresh curly willow and 20 stems of long orange mokara orchids. Even the branches had orchid accents and of course a double burgundy ribbon wrap.   Chris and Allison toast to their marriage . I love how her bouquet looks on the table.   The photographer for the wedding was Isabel March and she did a fantastic job capturing...

Wedding Flower Trends for 2015 and Beyond

Image
It may seem a little "Late" to be talking about 2015 wedding trends and I would agree with you if it weren't for the fact that we still have some last minute Fall and December weddings finalizing with our shop right now. I love these "Late Arrival Brides" because they give me a peek into next years wedding trends. Speaking of last minute weddings, Beautiful Emily shown below was a bride we worked with on her August 20th wedding . First meeting with her Mother (who had no idea what Emily might like to have for her wedding) we had to wait for Emily to finish school to finally dig into her flower wish list. This happened 11 days before her wedding . Yes you heard right, 11 days.  Although this may have added a few gray hairs to my head being I was not sure what Emily might like, plus I had to cost out and propose quickly not to mention I had missed every single deadline for order Farm Direct Flowers (this could be a blog in itself) but we needless to say, we w...

Will This Wedding Trend Continue into 2015?

Image
What is the trend you ask? Using lots and lots of Baby's Breath. Some folks love it, some folks hate but I don't think any wedding professional can say that using Baby's Breath wasn't a major floral trend in 2014, because it probably was the biggest trend all year. Personally, I love Baby's Breath and had a given that flowers with a natural and vintage feel were all the rage this past year, I was happy to provide my couples with the flowers of their dreams. That being said, some of floral designer friends became, shall we say, a bit bored by the use of so much of this flower . My feelings were probably a bit more neutral on the subject as I thought the simple look of this pretty flower is both affordable and timeless.  In the case of this wedding , the bridal party was quite large and that translates into heavy dollars to give each girl a bouquet. In the case of the Baby's Breath bouquets, they give a nice full look for a low investment.  Lookin...

Sharing a Spring Wedding

Image
Nothing makes us happier than when brides share their wedding flowers with us. Not only do we get to view our flowers in action but it's a special treat to see the bride and groom on their special day.  As you can see from the stunning photo below our bride Katie and her handsome husband had the perfect Spring Day for their wedding at the Lambertville Inn this past May. Katie and Michael both dazzled and their flowers complimented them beautifully, wouldn't you agree.   My favorite part of this wedding were their sweet centerpieces. Created using lavender roses, waxflowers, freesia and lilacs, they literally smelled like heaven. The new ballroom at the Lambertville Inn was the perfect setting for this simple but elegant floral design.  The view from the new ballroom was amazing ~ with the river and trees, the guests must have really been in awe of the setting.   To see these and other floral designs created by Monday Morning Flowers be sure to v...

Rustic Elegance ~ a Wedding Floral Story

Image
This past weekend we created an elegant and natural bouque t for our bride Carla and I was so pleased with how it turned out. Peach Juliette Garden roses partnered with peach and orange colored ranunculus, jasmine vine, hoya foliage and touches of ruscus combined to make an elegant yet natural looking bridal bouquet.  The centerpieces were all created in rustic wooden boxes, with some being square and some be rectangular. They were styled using loose and airy elements like lace flowers, fever few, vines, ranunculus, garden roses seeded eucalyptus, stock and hypericum berries.   To see more of the stunning wedding be sure to visit our wedding website at www.perfectweddingflowers.com

An October Flower Shop Scene

Image
Busy, busy, busy ~that's all I can say. With 6 weddings this weekend the designers have been hard at work and so I thought I'd share! Below Design Manager Holly is making some wheat  centerpieces tied with pretty brown and orange ribbon, perfect for a country wedding.  These centerpieces are for the same wedding but are a different style centerpiece going on the parents tables. They are lushly filled wreath arrangements filled with mums, roses, gerbers, berries and more. In the center will be a tall cylinder vase with a floating candles. So pretty, don't you think?   Below are the bouquets for bride Jennifer. After a few false starts with roses that were not up out high standard, these Purple Haze roses came in looking lush and lovely. They will match her bride's maids dresses exactly!  Love the peach mini callas in the bridal bouquet too.  Bride Nakia will be getting some of these lovely David Austin roses in her bridal bouquet . I wish you ...

Wonder How They Grow

Image
Last weekends wedding for Lorrie had us using lots of fresh, natural flowers such as astilbe, fever fews and tons and tons of baby's breath. One of the flowers used in the table centerpieces and Lorrie's pretty bouquet was Queen Anne's lace grown in California. Ever wonder where those beautiful flowers we use in our everyday and wedding designs come from? For us, we love buying from Cali because of the quality, selection and the fact that they are USA Grown. Not many flowers are with most cut flowers sold in the USA coming from outside our country. Any opportunity I get to "Buy Local" US flowers, I jump at the chance. As you can see from the photo to the left, Lorries' flowers came out amazing and it's even more gratifying for me to have seen some of the amazing farm land that grow these amazing varieties. We may be located in New Jersey but we get in the most amazing flowers from all over the world and this picture proves it!   To see this and mor...

Peaches and Pinks

Image
Peach and Pink Wedding Flowers never quite go out of style (thank goodness) but when ever we create floral designs with these coordinator colors, they always manage to be a show stopper.  Bride Emem looked amazing holding her peaches, creams and pink bridal bouquet made from roses, garden roses, hydrangeas, peony and orchids.   The brides maids carried creations of cream hydrangea accented with pink and peach roses and pink cymbidium orchids.   Elegant brandy snifters filled with peach and pink flowers with ivy trails and curly willow loops placed on raspberry colored table linens. We loved the setting at Paradise Vineyards and a special thank you goes out to Jeri Houseworth for her amazing photography!

Rhiannon's Bridal Bouquet

Image
Finally, wedding season is around the corner and kicking off the season is Rhiannon's pretty, vintage and wine inspired wedding bouquet. Hydrangea with pops of baby's breath, statice and Picasso mini calla lilies will be the perfect accompaniment to her bridal gown.  Do you like this bouquet? We'd love to hear your thoughts!

Tips for Choosing Your Wedding Florist

Image
When I meet with couples, I sometimes chuckle at the questions they ask me. For some they have read the "What to ask your florist" section in their wedding planners and although some are good questions, others are not really telling you what you need to know about the ability of the florist to do a great job on your wedding flowers.  Of course, nothing replaces recommendations from venues and friends and with all the places to view online reviews, this is the first place to start. If the florist is a "busy wedding florist", you should be able to see many reviews that will often stress similar things such as "they got my vision", "they worked within my budget" and the ever popular "they exceeded my expectations". Finding out from others about their experience is easier than ever. Sometimes depending on the review site, you can even email the past bride and ask questions. I know my brides have done it!  If a dear friend was look...

It's All in the Details

Image
I know what people think... "It must be fun to play with flowers all day long". hahaha, those of us in the Flower Biz always laugh at that because yes, we do enjoy our jobs and let's face it, who wouldn't want to be surrounded with gorgeous flowers day in and day out. The part that most folks find surprising is how truly hard it is to perform at 100% day in and day out. Being creative yes, but also detailed. There are so many important details that one miss and you just might ruin someones birthday, wedding or make them even more sad at a loved ones funeral.  This photo below shows how we plan ahead and advise our clients to do the same. This floral arrangement was designed to fit no matter what the wedding day weather was. In this case, it rained and these flowers fit this nook above a huge fireplace to help decorate the ceremony site. If the sun was out, this piece was made in two pieces and would have been placed on each side of the bride and groom on a ledge t...

Our Ad in Accent Magazine

Image
We rarely do any print advertising and truth be told, we get most of our weddings via word of mouth and referrals from other Wedding Vendors and Venues. Every now and then it's fun to advertise in a local magazine such as Princeton Magazine or this one, Accent which is produced by Hamilton Jewelers. We super love this ad created for the latest issue and thank you to Al Ojeda Photography for the great photo of bouquets we created last year for a wedding last year at the Somerset Palace . Simple hand tied bouquets of Garden Roses look anything but simple when paired off with navy blue brides maids dresses. To see these bouquets and more of our wedding flower designs from the Princeton area, visit our wedding website at www.perfectweddingflowers.com or visit our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/localflorist

Philadelphia Flower Show 2012

Image
Well, it's that time of year again - Time for the Philadelphia Flower Show! This year I did not act as a judge as I have in the past, but I was able to attend and take a look see with the hubby on Sunday. The theme this year is Hawaii and as you enter this magical place you are greeting by blue clear ocean above and white dendrobium orchid and anthurium flower waves crashing over head. What a wonderful way to start the show!  A close up below reveals how the white caps were created along with elegant and gracefully curved phaelanopsis orchid plants. Folks loved it!!    This exhibit was my personal favorite, created by Robertson's floral. On each side, representing the blue oceans with white cresting waves, were these blue water filled vessels and cut phael orchid sprays. In the center was a trip thru the mainland with it's tropical flowers and fauna and sandy beaches.  Everywhere you looked there were every type of tropical bloom and o...
