At the beginning of the year we launched Fresh 10 ~ Our $10 bouquet. Similar to our $5 Fridays, we feature a different bouquet every Monday. It has been a lot of fun picking out more unique flowers and combinations. I thought it would be fun to show some of the styles we came up with over the last few months. We love finding great deals and passing them along to our customers. Being in a corporate park, it has given more of a chance for our customers to bring a bouquet to their office. If you ask me I think that's a perfect way to start off a work week. Here's some fun little information about one of our favorite flowers called Alstroemeria .  Did you know that they are native to South America, specifically Brazil and Chile but we often buy them grown in Canada and California.  They are sometimes called Peruvian Lilies and each stem has a cluster of 3 to 6 blooms.  They come in colors such as red, orange, lavender, white, pink, green and even yellow like these shown here. We buy them by the case full and they are a staple for the Floral Industry . These cut flowers are very long lasting and with a fresh cut and a water change ever other day, they can last up to 2 weeks if not longer!  Many of the arrangements featured on our website www.sendingsmiles.com include this very lovely flower. They are especially wonderful because we can get them all year round and often use them in all 4 seasons of floral design. Ever wonder what it's like to work in a flower shop during Mother's Day Week? You might be surprised to know that this holiday is larger than any other floral holiday, including Valentine's Day. At our shop it becomes a fun filled (yes, we do have fun), mad dash of assisting customers with their floral buying decisions, flower processing, floral designing and then the last ~ delivery.   Here are a few fun things you might not know about the holiday:  Our staff blossoms from 20 to almost 30 during the week of Mother's Day It takes 14 drivers to get all the deliveries done We rent at least 6 additional vans/trucks for the holiday Over 800 deliveries will be made in a few short days Our average amount our customers spend on this holiday is $77 and the customer that has spent the most on his Mother this year has purchased a $350 floral design We will sell over 3,000 roses and 2,000 carnations during Mother's Day Next to roses, the next most popular flowe

Roses for $5? You got it, each Friday at both our flower stores located in  - Princeton, NJ and Yardley, PA we have what we call $5 Flower Fridays. Each week we offer a great fresh flower deal and today's special are rose bouquets. You don't get flowers this fresh at the Super Market and our goal is to bring you fresh product at a great price so that you can treat yourself. We think everyone should have fresh flowers in the house and we would love to sell them to you!  Our Princeton shop is open until 7 PM and Yardley until 6 PM. We'd love to see you and remember, Shop Local! 

Don't you love the Internet? We do but with the invent of the internet came a very bad thing for florists ~ The dreaded Order Gatherer. What is an Order Gatherer you ask? It's a business who sometimes claims to be a physical floral store, located in a town where they really are not located. How do they stay in business? By acting like they are a real florist , they "gather" orders and then turn around and send them via a floral network such as Teleflora or FTD back to real florists who then fill them.  Why is this bad?  First off, it's bad for the florist, because the orders are "stolen" away from them and then often resent back to them at a lower price than the consumer pays.  Second, this is bad for the consumer because they are often paying a high fee almost $20 in some cases, that goes to the "order gatherer" directly and not into their floral gift. Some even do what we call skimming, which means they pay the florist even less than

Keeping with the St. Patrick's Day theme, this weeks $5 Flower Friday is a small Shamrock plant decorated for the holiday weekend. We also have very cool green flower bouquets... aren't they pretty?   Haven't heard about our $5 Flower Friday specials? Each Friday we offer (at both stores of course) a special flower deal for only $5. Last week we had bouquets of iris and the week before that we had bouquets of freesia.  We know the supermarket has cheap flowers but what we try to offer are flowers you won't see in the market and ones we usually sell for $15, $20 or even $30 on other days. It's our way of making it worth your while to stop in, say hi and buy flowers from us instead of picking them up when you go shopping. In doing so, we hope you remember us for all those other special times when flowers are the perfect fit to the occasion. Roses and Carnations are 2 of my favorite flowers and I especially love them together. One of this weekends weddings has us using both types of flowers in brides maids bouquets.   The difference in texture and the slight shading difference will looks especially pretty in pictures when taken from a distance. In this case, the carnations also help with cost because our bride has quite a few attendants and needed to keep the cost down.  I love giving helpful tips to save money when you need to decorate for wedding or other party. Here are a few of my favorites. The big, tall cylinder vases filled simply with river stones and three huge gerbers really make a big show on a table. Use them alone or pair off with other vase creations for more drama. Prices starting at $30 at our shop!  Who says a centerpiece has to be huge and have lots of flowers? These cute compotes have moss, berries, ivy and just 3 roses. Super simple but elegant, don't you think? Only $40 each.  How about starting with a vintage or quaint container like this pitcher? Add a single huge hydrangea and some greenery for a casual centerpiece . $28 each.  Have a large space to fill? How about huge vases (rentals of course) with gems, underwater lights and floating candles. What a simple way to fill in a large space and adding lighting at the same time. Expect to pay $18 to $25 per vase.  Our tri candle holders have become so popular.
