3 Alternatives to Red Roses this Valentine's Day

Image
We love red roses but let's face it, they are very expensive during the Valentine's Day season. Although  we do NOT raise our prices for the holiday, the rose quality is not as good as other times of the year so here are a few other options we think they will love! Take our Classic English Blooms - this design is Stunning with a capital S! The floral design is lush, elegant and full. Blue hydrangea, pink lilies and purple stock arranged in a 12" tall classic ming vase. Another sweet design and very affordable is our Puffy Heart Mug filled with pink roses, white daisies and lavender waxflowers and white monte casino accents. Add a teddy bear and a balloon and you have a adorable gift that will cost you 1/2 of what a dozen red roses would be.  Last but not least, instead of sending traditional roses, why not send an amazing "heart" anthurium plant garden? This "Wow" gift is not only unique but long lasting. Choose between sending a set of 2 or j

Sometimes Bigger is Better

Image
We've all seen those commercials with the little kids talking about how "Bigger is Better" right? Don't they make you laugh? Those kids are so funny. Well, imagine this arriving to your door? Here at the Flower Shop it is our job to help folks choose the perfect floral gift.  Because most orders come to us via the phone, we use descriptions such as "desk sized or coffee table sized" to help them visualize how large the arrangement we create can be.  Next we discuss particular flowers, colors and style. It's not as easy as you might think. With beauty in the eye of the beholder and everyone on tight budgets, it's hard to be sure we are both on the same page. It's the main reason our Website has become such an important tool for us. The hardest part of our job is to try to understand what the sender is expecting and making sure that the moon, stars and sun align with their budget. So is Bigger Better? A consumer that owns and drives a Be

The Circus Rose

Isn't this rose amazing? I snapped this photo this week in the shop this last rose sat in a bucket next to Designer Norman who was using them in an arrangement. Ordered in just for our daily designing pleasure, this rose is always a hit with recipients and senders alike. It's considered a bi-colored roses as on each petal it has two distinct colors. In this case a back color of golden yellow and a tip in a bright orange/red shade. It's high petal count means it opens full and lush, almost like a garden rose variety. Basically just a stand Tea Rose, it's affordable and of very high quality. Looking for an amazing rose for your wedding or next party centerpiece? If this is anywhere in your color theme, you can't go wrong with this variety. Grown in South America, it's of very high quality and the color is just to die for, don't you think? Roses to Go

Image
Roses, roses and more roses. Did you know that roses are still the most popular flowers in the whole (yes, the whole wide) world? Well, they are and with good reason. They come in so many gorgeous colors, they have long, straight stems (at least the florist grade ones do) and they last longer than other flowers (iris and peony only last 3 days in a vase). This past weekend we sent out this order to one special young lady. Four huge vases, each filled with 2 dozen long stem roses. Yes, that's 8 dozen roses - Wow! My partner in crime made the delivery and it caused quite a stir. I can only imagine that this special delivery will be remembered for a long, long time! Want a cup of coffee?

Image
I love exploring how flowers look in the home. Here at the shop we see flowers all day long but exactly how are they displayed once received by happy folks lucky enough to be send a floral gift? This cute arrangement made by designer Rocio was just perfect in my own kitchen. In case you can't tell, blue is my favorite color as you can see when you visit our shop website http://www.sendingsmiles.com/ What I love about a floral gift like this one is that long after the flowers are gone, the coffee mug lives on to be used over and over. I'm envisioning a sweet little ivy plant or a cute "chicks and hen" succulent in there after the flowers are gone. Perhaps I'll just use it for a big cup of coffee! The next time you need to send a gift, we sincerely hope you'll consider a floral gift like this one! To see more of our floral gifts visit our website at http://www.sendingsmiles.com/

An Explosion of Roses

Image
Well, the Valentine's Day holiday is in full swing for us at both flower shops. It's always funny to watch the trends. Last year red and pink roses were all the rage and this year lavender, yellow and mixed roses seem to be in demand. Another trend seems to be men sending their gifts early to their Valentine. Friday and Saturday day orders are coming in strong even though the holiday is on a Monday this year. We even expect to need a few extra drivers for Sunday to get all the deliveries done! Here's designer Rocio arranging 36 long stem roses, our Explosion of Roses, for someone celebrating a special birthday. Our explosion retails for $199.95 which is a $40 savings over sending all red.
