O ur designer, Norman, created a petite succulent in a hanging glass globe. This is a really simple design that anyone can make and we are excited to show you how! We have all of the materials you'll need in both of our Princeton and Yardley locations: -1 glass globe -1 2.5-3.5” succulent plant -1 ribbon / string -1 pinch of moss   First you take your succulent plant out of it's pot. Tap away excess soil, these need very little water and the moss will help hold the moisture. Next, slide the plant into the globe. Depending on the side of the plant and the entrance to your globe this may take some manipulating. Next,  take the moss, any kind of moss will do, we used Reindeer Moss. Dip the moss in just a bit of water so it is moist and place it around the base of the plant. You'll need to play around with this to make sure most of the roots are covered. Not to be confused with baking a cake this month we hosted another Floral Design Class where we made a cake out of fresh flowers! The class this time was small but mighty and we had a great time, as usual!  Because the Flower Cake concept as a class was mine, I agree to do the teaching this time. Actually it was to give Alanna and break and Holly was under the weather but as you can see from my demo piece above, I did an OK job, even if I am a bit rusty in the design area.   As per usual I began getting the food ready ~ just light snacks this time; cheese and crackers, sausage, trail mix, potato chips along with red and white wine. All items beside the wine are actually sold at the shop and used in our gourmet basket creations.   Next I set up each design area for each student. Holiday Price Increases...  We answer your most asked questions Why have you chosen not to raise your prices this year? The last few years we only added $5 to the cost of our dozen roses to help offset the higher prices we pay. Because it barely makes any difference and we'd rather treat our customers well, we are choosing to leave our prices at our normal level. Do roses really cost you more during Valentine's Week?  Yes, the cost of red roses and other flowers nearly doubles during a holiday and demand for certain flowers, such as red roses goes up about 6 times normal volume.   Actually prices start to rise in mid January and don't come back down until late February.  This sounds like really good news for your customers? It really is but we are encouraging our customers to order extra early this year. We love when our families share pictures right away with us, like this past Saturdays wedding. A winter white wedding held during Christmas at St. Paul's in Princeton and then on the Nassau Inn in Palmer Square, both settings looked amazing for the holiday season.  I especially loved Kate's elegant tear drop shaped bouquet of white roses, orchids, stephanotis and peony.  With a sea of Rich Red Poinsettia's Kate and her Flower girl share a little lovin'!   The flower girls wand of roses and deep gold tinted ruscus foliage with streaming ribbons. Actually easier to carry than you might think, we bet she felt like a princess for the day.   The escort card table stood tall and elegant to greet the guests.  The centerpieces were styled half tall and half low.
