Valentine's Day is February 14th - See what we have to offer this year Choosing a Valentine's Day gift can be a bit confusing because there are so many options. Our specialty is being able to deliver the gift for you. Imagine their face when a gift is delivered right to the job!! Although  Red Roses  is the traditional gift of love during the Valentine's Day holiday, we offer so many other options for you. Although red roses can get pretty pricey during the month of February, you are in luck because we have many options to choose from that won't break the bank. Here's just a few to help you decide!! We have to start off with a dozen (12) long stem red roses because it is tradition. These gorgeous blooms are going to be arranged in a 10" tall red glass keepsake vase this year. Although they are one of our highest priced items at $124.99, they are also one of the most dramatic designs we will be delivering. These are called our Valentine's Day Red R

Staff Favorites: Jeneen

Staff Favorites: Jeneen Today I asked Jeneen to share some of her favorite items in the store. Jeneen is our newest MMF staff member finishing her third week with us and we are so happy to have her, especially this week! ;) The first thing Jeneen gravitated toward was some of the amazing flowers we got in this week from Japan! Here she is holding one of our gorgeous jumbo anemones and one of the largest ranunculous we have seen in a while. "Everyone thinks Valentine's Day and automatically assumes red roses, but we forget there are hundreds of stunning and unique flowers that can make a statement even more powerful than the traditional red rose."  A great way to add a finishing touch to a gift is with delicious chocolates. We carry artisanal  chocolates from Oregon made by Moonstruck and they are definitely one of Jeneen's favorite gourmet foods we carry. If you're not sure what to get someone for a gift besides flowers, we off

Floral Favorite's for Valentine's Day

Image
The best part about working in the flower shop during a holiday is seeing all the specialty flowers arrive. Truthfully, we wish we could have these amazing blooms in all year long but alas, the more expensive varieties are a bit out of every day range for us. This week we had Japanese Sweet Peas arrive in and they are spectacular. They smell amazing and their delicate two tones petals would set any girls heart aflutter.  Not as unusual to have in the shop during non-holiday times would be full size cymbidium orchid blooms but this week they are unusually lovely . In shades of red, pink and white, a single stem is a work of art unto itself, would you agree?   We're still taking order for Valentine's Day Delivery but you really need to place your order soon to get these lovely blooms!

A Note About Valentine's Day Flower Prices

Image
Holiday Price Increases...  We answer your most asked questions Why have you chosen not to raise your prices this year? The last few years we only added $5 to the cost of our dozen roses to help offset the higher prices we pay. Because it barely makes any difference and we'd rather treat our customers well, we are choosing to leave our prices at our normal level. Do roses really cost you more during Valentine's Week?  Yes, the cost of red roses and other flowers nearly doubles during a holiday and demand for certain flowers, such as red roses goes up about 6 times normal volume.   Actually prices start to rise in mid January and don't come back down until late February.  This sounds like really good news for your customers? It really is but we are encouraging our customers to order extra early this year. We have chosen to only handle a comfortable amount of deliveries and we will sell out earlier than usual. It will be more important than ever that ou

Saying it with flowers

Have you seen the cover of today's Princeton Packet Newspaper? Well, yes, there I am, yours truly in all my "floral" glory. What fun it was to have the "Press" at the shop. It was wonderful of them to put flowers right on their cover and I was honored to be included.  Valentine's Day and flowers - perfect together. Have you noticed how everyone feels a need to say "Don't send flowers this Valentine's Day - send our product instead"? I'm thinking that as florists we should take that as a compliment that we are so often targeted in ads. Marketing 101 - if you have to put down someone elses product, you just might not have a good product yourself. Enough said. For those of us who sell flowers, stand on our own merits. People, especially women, love getting flowers.   No bashing the folks that sell jewelry, chocolates, cell phones, fruit, teddy bears, etc, etc.  Because flowers let you say what's in your heart why not send flowers t

An Explosion of Roses

Well, the Valentine's Day holiday is in full swing for us at both flower shops. It's always funny to watch the trends. Last year red and pink roses were all the rage and this year lavender, yellow and mixed roses seem to be in demand. Another trend seems to be men sending their gifts early to their Valentine. Friday and Saturday day orders are coming in strong even though the holiday is on a Monday this year. We even expect to need a few extra drivers for Sunday to get all the deliveries done! Here's designer Rocio arranging 36 long stem roses, our Explosion of Roses, for someone celebrating a special birthday. Our explosion retails for $199.95 which is a $40 savings over sending all red.
