A week of Custom Floral Designs

Image
This past week had out designers hard at work creating amazing one of a kind floral designs! Which one is your favorite?  Someone was going to be surprised when this colorful designed arrived for her Anniversary .  The color purple is so dramatic. We especially loved the combination of these roses, hydrangeas, alstroemeria, asters and lily grass.   This fun design was styled to look like a gift package. The bright and vibrant colors were perfect for a birthday .   A corporate client asked us to create happy centerpieces for an event they were having. Needless to say, they were thrilled with these!   This tight and compact design was both modern but natural. The pops of hot pink spray roses along with the orange and yellow tea roses, purple statice and lavender stock made for such a pretty desk top design.   For someone feeling a bit tropical, this one sided high style design held a little secret. In the center sat a little bird perched on some lily grass.

The Art of Floral Design

Image
We understand the average consumer sending flowers , loves the idea of "seeing" what they will be sending out as their floral gift but the flip side, is that each floral arrangement is hand crafted and hand designed. Matching pictures on our website requires both attention to detail and the having in stock at all time wide selection of flowers . Whew, that's hard work!!  Above is our designers version of one of our best sellers on our website and I have to say that not only did she do a great job, I think the actual arrangement she created far exceeded the "stock photo" arrangement we display on our website. Imagine having this beautifully fresh floral design arriving to your desk? We think it would make you might happy, right?  In my next blog, I'll show some of our unique and one of a kind arrangements created for our customers this week! Until then, feel free to check out our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/localflorist or our website at ww

FreshTen Once Again

Image
At the beginning of the year we launched Fresh 10 ~ Our $10 bouquet. Similar to our $5 Fridays, we feature a different bouquet every Monday. It has been a lot of fun picking out more unique flowers and combinations. I thought it would be fun to show some of the styles we came up with over the last few months. We love finding great deals and passing them along to our customers. Being in a corporate park, it has given more of a chance for our customers to bring a bouquet to their office. If you ask me I think that's a perfect way to start off a work week. Today's FreshTen are bouquets of protea, lilies and tropical foliage's ~ for only $10, what a deal!  Our store is located in the Princeton Forrestal Village between the Westin Hotel and Cando Fitness Center. To reserve a bouquet or to place a flower order we can be reached at 609-520-2005 or shop us online at www.sendingsmiles.com

Sharing a Spring Wedding

Image
Nothing makes us happier than when brides share their wedding flowers with us. Not only do we get to view our flowers in action but it's a special treat to see the bride and groom on their special day.  As you can see from the stunning photo below our bride Katie and her handsome husband had the perfect Spring Day for their wedding at the Lambertville Inn this past May. Katie and Michael both dazzled and their flowers complimented them beautifully, wouldn't you agree.   My favorite part of this wedding were their sweet centerpieces. Created using lavender roses, waxflowers, freesia and lilacs, they literally smelled like heaven. The new ballroom at the Lambertville Inn was the perfect setting for this simple but elegant floral design.  The view from the new ballroom was amazing ~ with the river and trees, the guests must have really been in awe of the setting.   To see these and other floral designs created by Monday Morning Flowers be sure to visit our We

Plant Design at Harmony School in Princeton

Image
Once again we sent out our delightful team of Alanna and Alex to work with 4 and 5 year old children at Harmony School here in the Princeton Forrestal Village. A fun, hands on project of planting a tiny ivy plant with a red white and blue theme, just in time for the 4th of July holiday.  Above Alanna works with the little ones who were broken down into 2 classes of 15. The children were slightly afraid of the Spanish Moss!!   So well behaved!   Next they were able to add a red white and blue ribbon treatment to their vases. Perfect to show their patriotism!  Finished projects from the first class wait to be taken home.  Alanna working with the mini students again. They really had fun and were so proud of their creations.  Do you know of a group of children who would love for us to come out and do a hands on plant or floral project? Call us at our Princeton store for more information!

Ranunculus Flowers

Image
Ranunculus, one of the most asked for flowers by our brides , these soft ruffled blooms made great a great addition to hand tied bouquets. This week has us using these amazing pink ones in our design work and they are so beautiful, wouldn't you agree?  The Meaning and Symbolism of Ranunculus Native to Asia and celebrated for their medicinal properties as well as their amazing bright beauty, the small camellia like ranunculus ranges from white to pink, red to yellow to orange. Also known as Buttercut and Coyotes eyes, legend has it that the mythological Coyote was tossing eyes up in the air and then catching them when an Eagle flew by and snatched them up. Unable to see, Coyote created eyes from a Buttercup.  Flowers make amazing gifts for Summer Birthday, Get Well or just to say "Thinking of You".
