Wedding Season 2018 - updated trends

Image
Wedding Season 2018 is here and the trends are emerging. Blush tones, organic bouquets with lots of loose foliage are in demand. Flowers such as Garden Roses, Hydrangea, Sweet Pea and Eucalyptus are helping to create dream bouquets. Flower budgets appear to be on the rise as couples want their special designs to be created by a professionals and the trend to stay away from anything DIY (do it yourself) helps couples enjoying the week leading up to their wedding instead of processing flowers and stressing over flower design and set up. We will post more trends as the year goes on! To see some of our past designs be sure to check out our wedding website !

Wedding Flower Trends for 2015 and Beyond

Image
It may seem a little "Late" to be talking about 2015 wedding trends and I would agree with you if it weren't for the fact that we still have some last minute Fall and December weddings finalizing with our shop right now. I love these "Late Arrival Brides" because they give me a peek into next years wedding trends. Speaking of last minute weddings, Beautiful Emily shown below was a bride we worked with on her August 20th wedding . First meeting with her Mother (who had no idea what Emily might like to have for her wedding) we had to wait for Emily to finish school to finally dig into her flower wish list. This happened 11 days before her wedding . Yes you heard right, 11 days.  Although this may have added a few gray hairs to my head being I was not sure what Emily might like, plus I had to cost out and propose quickly not to mention I had missed every single deadline for order Farm Direct Flowers (this could be a blog in itself) but we needless to say, we w

Gold as a Wedding Trend

Image
As they will do, Wedding Trends come and go and an upcoming trend I've noticed for the balance of 2015 into 2016 is the trend of using gold in the wedding designs. Whether is touches of gold foliage or gold toned bowls and dishes, the warm tones of gold seem to be in style for both summer and winter weddings.  Last weekend's wedding included touches of gold foliage and berries mixed among the peach, pink and cream colored flowers. These centerpieces really looked gorgeous among the warm tones of the chairs and carpet.  I can't wait to see the photographers professional photos from this wedding!

The Succulent Trend Continues

Image
My name is Georgianne and I'm a flower person. Yes. I have now said it, I love flowers and it doesn't matter the color, shape, type, style ~ you name it I love it. This weekend has us creating floral designs for 3 weddings including this one shown here. Designing with succulents still seems to be a trend that is not going away. This wedding for bride Carla will have using elegant but organic textured flowers such as dahlias, tea and garden roses, hydrangeas with touches of dusty miller and cut succulents. Be sure to check our wedding website early next week to see more photos from this amazing wedding .

Will This Wedding Trend Continue into 2015?

What is the trend you ask? Using lots and lots of Baby's Breath. Some folks love it, some folks hate but I don't think any wedding professional can say that using Baby's Breath wasn't a major floral trend in 2014, because it probably was the biggest trend all year. Personally, I love Baby's Breath and had a given that flowers with a natural and vintage feel were all the rage this past year, I was happy to provide my couples with the flowers of their dreams. That being said, some of floral designer friends became, shall we say, a bit bored by the use of so much of this flower . My feelings were probably a bit more neutral on the subject as I thought the simple look of this pretty flower is both affordable and timeless.  In the case of this wedding , the bridal party was quite large and that translates into heavy dollars to give each girl a bouquet. In the case of the Baby's Breath bouquets, they give a nice full look for a low investment.  Lookin

My Top 3 Tips to Save Money on Your Wedding Flowers

Image
1 - Bigger is not always better. If you think a big bride's maids bouquets  or big centerpieces are the only way to go, then think again. Is it really worth going into debt to have large wedding flowers that you can't afford? I say no! I think when couples spend more than they should it's not because a florist talked them into it, it's because they may not have been open to suggestions. An example would be these very simple centerpieces from last weekends wedding. Long tables needed more than one floral arrangement to look full. A few well placed votive candles and with 3 simple babies breath with a single rose vases help to fill out the table and play to the country theme of the event.  Need help budgeting? Read out blog on how to budget correctly HERE . 2 -  Larger flowers cost less in the long run than more expensive tiny ones Have you ever wondered why a certain flower seems to be so expensive even if it's tiny? Size has nothing to do with cost.

A Vineyard Wedding

Image
This past weekend we had the pleasure of creating wedding flowers for Nicole and Kyle, who held their wedding at Hopewell Valley Vineyard in Hopewell, NJ. Mother Nature was in rare form and I honestly think that it was one of the best weather days of the whole year. Using all white flowers, relying heavily on Dahlias, Hydrangeas and Garden Roses, the arrangements were earthy but elegant. On each side of the tent we created large displays of hydrangea in tall clear glass cylinder vases.  Cocktail tables, both high and low were placed around the vineyard and inside the meeting space. We especially loved the wooden chairs and stool not to mention the table cloths that intermixed a soft burlap style with other sporting a beige and white check pattern.  The 28 elegantly appointed guest tables each had a floral centerpieces measuring 12" high by 14" wide. The centerpieces were created in low dishes and then filled with flowers in shades of white and cream, which included

Cascade or Not to Cascade ~ an update on Wedding Trends for late 2014 into 2015

Image
If you are planning your wedding in 2015, I'd imagine you have started looking at photos on Pinterest and other online site of wedding bouquets and floral centerpieces. It's truly shocking how many options there are, right? First you have to decide on a floral colors and then you try to determine if you want formal, natural or fun floral designs . We're seeing just about every color being used this year in our wedding designs and as for styling, no one style choice seems to be more in demand than other. Many of our couples this year have chosen traditional romantic designs with a few even choosing cascade bouquets. As a designer, I just love these elegant and flowing bouquets and I'm hoping to see more brides choose them next year.  Speaking of trends, we are seeing less and less "shabby chic, country and rustic" weddings for late 2014 and early 2015 and more couples choosing a more traditional theme but with a "natural feel" ~ such as an Eng

Gerbera Daisy Wedding Bouquets

Image
Don't you just love daisies, especially pink daisies? So do we and how fun it was to create this sweet bouquet for a bride picking it up at our Yardley store last week. A mixture of light and medium pink gerbera daisies accented with fresh waxflower. Such a sweet, early spring bouquet ~ just makes us happy looking at it. Wedding season is just around the corner so be sure to come back often to see all the new wedding flowers trends for 2013.

Top Wedding Trends for 2012 into 2013

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that more and more brides are going to be asking their floral designers to create cascade bouquets for their weddings. In the last 3 weeks alone, we have created 3 of these beauties and buzz on our Facebook page has been quite dramatic. Take the bouquet below ~ Bride Shedline was super pleased when Kevin arrived with her bouquet. Don't you just love the rich color in shades of purple. That in itself is an ongoing trend with many couple choosing purple as their wedding color. This bouquet was created using roses, mini callas, stock, lisianthus, carnations, limonium and touches of elegant foliage's. It's actually not that heavy and was super easy to hold (the biggest fear most bride's have when deciding on their bouquet is weight and ease of carrying it correctly). See my YouTube video that shows how easy these bouquets are to carry.  Another trend I'm noticing more of is the use of mixed plant material such as succu

Simple but Elegant

Image
"What is your wedding flower style?" When I ask a bride that question, 80% will tell me, simple but elegant but what does that really mean? When you look in the dictionary the definition of these words, what do you find? Simple means: Free from ostentation and vanity, easy to understand and humble in origin. Elegant  means: Tasteful in design, dignified and graceful in appearance and cleverly simple. Take the bridal bouquet above? More than any other bouquet we've ever made, this one seems to strike a cord in certain brides. To me it's elegant but simple. It's natural but not wild. It has texture that stands apart from the wedding dress but does not compete with it.  But this type of bouquet only accounts for about 20% of the designs we create. Do I think that 8 out of 10 brides really want simple but elegant floral designs? Actually, it's probably the other way around. I think that 80% want complicated, cool, colorful, even funky flowers. For me,

Inside the Design Bench - Part 2!

Image
Welcome back for Part 2 of "Inside the Design Bench" at Monday Morning Flowers. Part 1 explored all the work that goes into beginning to design wedding flowers. Our team works hard to make sure that everything is perfect for that special day. I know that sounds corny but it's true!! This part explores the actual delivery and set up of all the wedding flowers. By the time our set up team is back in the truck and heading for home base, 9 or 10 employees have helped to make it all happen! Now, back to bride Erin's wedding....Below is her bouquet. Depending on what our bride has chosen and if it's a unique looking bouquet, we try to get a quick picture before it leaves the shop. Future brides appreciate our ability to show them different styles and colors of bouquets we have created. Although the actual day of the wedding can be hectic, especially if we have more than one to set up that day, remembering to take a few pictures is top on our list of wedding details! Er

It's All in the Details!

Whenever I do a wedding consultation, one of the elements I'm always sure to discuss is the process of tagging all the flowers for my brides and grooms. This insures that not only is there no confusion about whose flowers are whose but also helps us to make sure that each floral is delivered to the correction location. How we do this is we e-mail each Bride a questionnaire for them to fill out and send back to us. There we ask for all contact information such as day of cells, wedding planner information, drop time desired, banquet hall and church contacts, etc. Then there is a place where we ask to the Bride and Groom to name each person in the wedding that is either wearing or holding a flower. Not only does this include bridal bouquets but also boutonnieres, corsages, etc. Lastly, we ask for this list to be broken down by drop off location. Most Brides forget that they may need their bouquets at one location for pictures and the gentlemen flowers might need to go directly to chur

"What are the wedding trends for 2010"? As I sit at my desk typing up Wedding and Mitzvah proposals for events I recently booked, I'm noticing that people are really starting to include Friday Nights and Sundays in the party mix. Not sure if this is trend to save money or because those dates are available but I think this year we are doing almost as many weddings on Sundays and Fridays as Saturdays. For your viewing pleasure I've included pictures from Trisha's wedding this past Sunday at the Crystal Plaza up in Livingston! Looking into 2010 I already have two weddings booked for January and both are on Sundays. Hm, I find this curious but I love it. At one time I would be lucky to do 1 wedding in January and I predict that we'll do as many as 6 to 10 for January, 2010. Having them spread out over the course of three days is much easier on us. This past weekend, for example, we had 1 wedding on Friday, 1 on Saturday and then a fairly large one on Sunday. Muc
