Amazing Summer Flowers at Our Shop

Image
Amazing Summer Flowers at our store in Princeton, NJ. The one thing that never gets old for me is viewing pretty  flowers . When I go on vacation, I stop to look at flowers. When I'm at home, I read flower books. When I'm at work, I ooohh and aahh over the pretty stems in the shop. Let's face it, my job is pretty awesome! A big part of my daily responsibilities is sharing our products on Social Media and that is no hard task! Imagine being a plumber or lawyer? Talk about having a "hard" product to showcase. Luckily, I have not only brightly color blooms but fun and inspirational giftware to show.  This  summer  the sunflowers have been spectacular and the other flowers aren't shabby either. This design includes other flowers such as spray roses, tea roses, stock, spider mums and even tropical protea. Designer Alanna got this pretty shot on the side walk looking down. We're thinking that whoever gets this design is gonig to be pretty happy about it.

Blue Roses

Whether you love them or hate them there is no denying they make a strong statement. Take these Blue Dyed Vendela roses. They come directly through the Dutch Flower Market and are quite shockingly blue . Imagine them combined with other flowers.... And then there you have it. Our bride Cathryn wanted these Blue Roses combined with medium sized dark centered sunflowers and this was the outcome. You have to admit this bouquet is memorable!  Would you consider this combination for your own wedding bouquet? We'd love for you to tell us!

Being a Sucker for Sunflowers

Image
Don't you just love Sunflowers ? Here at our 2 flower shops, we sure do! Although we are able to bring sunflowers into our store pretty much year round we especially love the summer months when we can buy huge locally grown ones from New Jersey .  Sunflowers are such a joy to design with. Although they look wonderful with other flowers, they especially look nice just by themselves. Don't forget about wedding designs. They dramatic flowers look amazing in wedding bouquets and centerpieces, not to mention on wedding cakes, like the ones pictured below.  Looking to send flowers to cheer someone up? Nothing says "smile, I'm thinking of you" more than a bouquet that includes a sunflower or two, don't you agree?  What's your favorite Sunflower design style? We'd love to know!!

Fall Flower of the Week - Sunflowers!

Image
Sunflowers – gorgeous, uplifting and perfect for fall (yes, that’s right, not only a summer favorite!)  The sunflower is a happy, bright and beautiful flower that is not only used for its aesthetic appeal - although they look very cute with a eyes and a smile in this arrangement, "Six Pack of Sunshine," made by Designer Norman. Cheaper than olive oil, sunflower oil can be used to make butter, margarine, peanut butter, “sunflower bread”, biodiesel, and was used by American Indians for bread, ointments, dye and body paint.  With its big, bright appearance, the sunflower always adds a little bit of joy to any floral arrangement. Grown all over the U.S. (Jersey too), sunflowers are unique and really stand alone in appearance.  Have the designers at Monday Morning Flowers add them to an arrangement of summer colors for a “bright and cheery” look, or oranges and reds for a fall, seasonal style.  Pick up a single sunflower to make a statement, or a bouquet of a doz

Sunflower Weddings

Ah, nothing says summer like a sunflower bouquet and so it's the perfect flower for a summer wedding, don't you think? Today's bride Jane wanted a fresh picked feel to her bouquet and I  think we really achieved that. Medium size sunflowers arranged with a rim of fresh babies breath and lemon leaves with a hint of monte casino white asters between the blooms adds just a touch of softness the bouquet would not have without them. I also love the pop of white and I think it will look smashing (did I just say smashing?) against her simple bridal gown.  For the men we are using Viking pom poms for the boutonniere. I like the fact that although they look like a sunflower, they are much smaller. This way they don't feel like they are wearing a ladies size corsage. Speaking of corsages, we also like using the viking pom pons to make delicate wristlet corsages like this one. It not only has the wristlet attached, we also include pins in case they decide to wear t

Late Summer in the Shop - August 17th, 2010

Image
Late summer is always a nice time in the flower shop because of the local product that arrives each day such as these huge yellow centered sunflowers. Some measuring 7" across, what fun it is to bring a couple home to brighten up the house. Another flower that screams late summer are iris. Available year round from various farms, they are especially plentiful at this time of the year and the color is just so vibrant! Did you know that these very cool brown sunflowers grow this way? Nope, they are not dyed and they came from a local New Jersey Farm too! Look at these very cool gloriosa lilies that just arrived from Holland. Very spidery and vibrant, these little short stemmed version of this viney flower is perfect in summer basket arrangements and centerpieces. How about these tropical bird of paradise? Tropical floral displays are very popular during the summer months. Must be the heat!! Well, that's a view in the shop today!!
