A Church Wedding

Image
Believe it or not, most of the weddings we design these days are NOT held in Churches. With more and more weddings ceremonies taking place in parks, ballrooms and under gazebo's, it's always a change of pace to decorate a beautiful church. From this past weekend, bride and groom Lindsay and Chris were married in this lovely church in Morrisville, PA.  Keeping with the theme of blue and white, Design Manager Holly created 2 elegant floral displays to be placed up on the altar. Hybrid delphinium, hydrangea, thistle, green button mums and elegant foliage's and bells of Ireland combine for a lovely combination of texture and color.   Kevin did a nice job of decorating the pews with a single blue hydrangea bloom accented with a soft green ribbon. Pew flowers and bows are always a nice way to decorate for a wedding and welcome your guests closer to altar for your ceremony. An aisle runner rests at the foot of the altar waiting to be rolled down the aisle just as Lindsay...

Remember to Budget for the Wedding Ceremony

Decisions, decisions... planning a wedding is not an easy task not to mention expensive. With many weddings ceremonies today happening at the same place as the reception, many couples forget to include (or leave) money in their budget for flowers and ceremony decor.  Although it's nice to decorate a church or synagogue, I find they need a bit less done to them to transform them into a wedding location. I think the hydrangea and ribbon accents on the pews showed that something special was about to happen. The brides color palate of simple creams and ivory helped tone down the colors already present in the church and not compete with them. We also chose not to put the flowers on every pew. Every third one was decorated and helped draw your eye down to the altar without costing a fortune. ...

Altar Flowers

As I write this, we are in the throws of wedding season. What fun it is, not to mention hard work. I love this photo from a wedding many years ago because not only was the couple adorable (I believe Annie and Tim, if memory serves me) but I loved their sweet little hanging cones on the ends of the pews at church. Let's face it, hosting a wedding is expensive but what a treat for us when couple actually put money into decorating the church. I personally love decorating the pews. Why? Well, because you only see a church decorated this way if there is a wedding. You'll never see pretty bows, netting, kissing balls or pretty cones of flowers like this if it's just Sunday services or even a funeral. Simple white cones were stung with chiffon ribbon and had three stems of cream colored stock and a touch of seeded eucalyptus. Very simple but very pretty, don't you think? These cones of flowers cost less than $25 each but how the look of this photo would have changed with out...
