Staff Favorites: Alanna

MMF Staff Favorites: Alanna Alanna is our Customer Care coordinator and has been with the company for 5 years this Spring.  When I came out to our showroom Alanna was already holding this cool terrarium made by our newest colleague Jeneen . "Terrariums are fun because they are a little ecosystem you can have right on your desk, and the cover makes it even easier to care for because it holds the condensation." Did you know we have European style hand-tied bouquets available at both our locations ready for you to choose and take with you in a hurry? Alanna liked this one highlighting Protea from South Africa and Freesia. Spring is almost here and we have been getting in some amazing flowers. Alanna (and the rest of us) loved this lavender Sweetpea! We get in new flowers from local sources and all over the world on a daily basis, stop in to see what goodies are available today. :) Thanks Alanna!

Coral and Peach Wedding for late September

Image
This past weekend was a whirl wind of party activity include 4 weddings but I have to admit that my favorite color theme of the weekend was this peach and coral themed wedding for Bride Kristen. Using green  hydrangeas, peach berries and garden roses, coral Amsterdam roses and accents of navy blue Viburnum berries really made for striking bouquets. The girls dresses were navy so I'm hoping that Kristen shares photos because I can only imagine how these looked when the brides maids carried them.   Not only is the color amazing but the texture was awesome on these bouquets also. We were not sure until the last minute that we could get the viburnum berries and had a back up plan of deep blue delphinium, just in case. The berries were so different than what we usually do that it was a nice change for us as well. By the time the wedding went from bouquets to centerpieces , the centerpieces were much more muted at the brides request with three different styles of centerpieces in

Getting High with Balloons!

Image
Last week I had the misfortune of bending over in just the wrong way and whamo!! Snapped my back right out of whack. Not a fun way to spend Memorial Day Weekend. It would not have been so bad if it weren't for painful spasms that kept me up and walking around the house most of the night. It's amazing how quickly you can get to feeling pretty sorry for yourself. I sure did. During one of my many strolls around the house my mind wandered to balloon bouquets. I know that sounds strange but in one of my moments of "self-pity" I thought about a big bouquet of helium filled balloons. Colorful hearts, stars and circles. How fun! Sayings such as Thinking of You, Get Well Soon, To Cheer You, You're Special not to mention, silly Smiley Faces with colorful hair came to mind. I mean, I'm a florist and work with balloons everyday. I tried to detached myself from my business and imagine what it feels like to receive one of these fun, high flying bouquets of balloons. I qu

Think Pink!

I don't know what it is about the color pink but it just never seems to go out of style when choosing a wedding flower color. A lush bouquet of ivory and pale pink roses is as timeless now as it was 10 years ago. Aged, ceramic urns filled with herbs and pink blooms make a perfect centerpiece for a wedding set in an old mansion. A simple wreath of cream hydrangea, pink roses and carnations and accents of moss look perfect at an outdoor terrace wedding. Pink roses everywhere speak of romance and elegance. Choose pink as your wedding color the options are endless. To see more, gorgeous pink arrangements visit our wedding website at www.perfectweddingflowers.com

Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder

We've all heard that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and boy if that isn't the truth, I don't know what it. Being in the business of floral design puts me in the center of this truism just about every day. We've all had this happen. Someone in your life gives you this gift for your birthday or maybe Christmas. They watch you intently as you open the package, bit by bit. They have this look on their face that says "she's gonna love it, I hope she loves it" and of course, you really want to love this gift you are opening. You have all these preconceived notions of what this gift could be. Is it those cool jeans you saw in American Eagle or maybe one of those soft and fuzzy terry cloth robes you saw at Victoria Secrets. The tension mounts. Them looking at you and you intently digging inside the gift box and then it happens.... you unfold the ugliest blouse you have ever seen in your life. You look up into the eyes of the person who's obviously excite
