Fun and Funky Flowers

Image
It's always hard when a customer calls and says they want to send a floral design with unique flowers. What's unique to one person might be the norm for another, right? Take this flower for example. Do you know what it is? It's a King Protea and to us it's a bit unique but we get them often and they are a flower that some would love while others might say "what the heck is that"!  This year we have noticed that flowers with a "tropical" feel have been in heavy demand such as these Proteas along with Bird of Paradise, Ginger and Anthurium. We love them all and for someone who is looking to pick up or send flowers you don't see in the local supermarket, these flower fit the bill.  Perhaps because we've had a winter of heavy snow, folks are looking for something with an "Island" feel and these beautiful and huge blooms sure do remind us of warmer climates and sunny skies, right? These flowers originate from South Africa where th

Fall Flower of the Week - Pincushion Protea!

Image
This week’s fall flower of the week is the unique and funky pincushion protea!  This flower has incredible texture and adds a special element of beauty to any arrangement.  Protea comes in red, orange and yellow, and is normally used in tropical style arrangements.  As you can see here, it looks gorgeous in Fall arrangements as well (which is why I picked it to be the flower of the week!)  With its completely original look, the protea is always appreciated for its funky style.  Its tones are perfect for autumn, and it makes a beautiful gift for the less traditional flower lover.            Stop in today to pick up an arrangement to include the gorgeous protea we have in the store , or send to someone you care about.  Call us today at 609-520-2005 or search “protea” on our website to see some of our online arrangements.

This Weeks Floral Favorites!

Image
Each week we try  to bring in a few new floral varieties that we have never seen before like this very cool green and blue hydrangea above. The heads are huge and we loved the ruffly nature of the petals.  The celosia this week are amazing. The colors are so vibrant and shocking! They really look so cool in the arrangements.  Oh my goodness!! What can you say about this beautiful Banksia above. Wow, wow, wow, the texture and colors of these flowers is just super cool. How fun!  Mocha sunflowers, locally grown and very brown, how fun is that? We love the yellow ones but these really add an interesting touch to a summer arrangement. Have you ever seen our bud vases? Each vase is a different shape and very artfully holds a single flower. Who says you need multiple flowers to make a statement? Not with these sweet vases. There you have it, our floral favorites from this past week - 7/22/12. Check back to see what next week holds in store for our customers. Want to see t

Shocking Lily

Do you know the difference between a Asiatic Lily and a Hybrid Lily? What makes an O.T. Lily different? If it's one thing I've learned, you need a Ph'D to know everything there is to know about flowers! Take this lily for example. It's called an O. T. Lily or Orienpet Lily. It's wonderful color, shape and texture is derived from crosses between Oriental and Trumpet lily types. The advantage in growing Orienpet Lilies (O.T.) is they are more tolerant of harsh growing conditions, compared to the normal Oriental Lily. Yet they retain the exotic appearance, size and fragrance of the Orientals. What a mouth full but I prefer to say - "Hey, what a gorgeous flower" and as a customer you can be rest assured that we'll seek out and find new and exciting varieties for you. Lucky for both of us, no Ph'D required! Our website is an awesome way to shop for flowers but to send something cutting edge and different, why not call and ask us what is new? We&#
