Be That Guy This Valentine's Day

I laugh when I see this graphic below (borrowed of course) but I admit that I am encouraging those flower sending guys out there to send flowers 1 day early this year. The main reason is because Valentine's Day falls on a Saturday in 2015 and it's always more exciting to receive flowers at work than at home. Why you may ask? It's fun to having your coworkers see you get flowers and makes you feel special!  As I write this blog, we've already started receiving orders for the holiday with about 75% be requested for Friday the 13th and the rest going out on Saturday. What day would you want to send or receive your Valentine's Day Flowers this year?

What's in the cooler on a snowy day?

It might be very white outside but the colors in our Princeton store are anything but white! Did you know that we now organize our Retail Display Cooler by color? This way when you come in you can see the flowers you love in the colors we have them in that day!  We've recently added some new floral designs to our website.  Be sure to check them out!

Tulips or Should We Say Tulip

As a floral shop owner, I love flowers but it's true, as the cobbler has no shoes, often I don't bring flowers home. I probably shouldn't admit that but because I'm surrounded by gorgeous blooms all day long and work 12 hour days, it often doesn't occur to me to grab a bunch when I head out for the evening. Yesterday as the hubby and I closed up for the night, I grabbed a bunch of tulips (one of my all time favorites to bring home) and after cooking and eating dinner, I pulled out a favorite vase to arrange them.  While doing so, I broke a head ~ Oh no! Never fear, look how sweet this single bloom looks in a cute little vase. I posted this picture on my Facebook and within minutes had 20 likes. The power of flowers. Sometimes all it takes is one single flower to brighten a day.  Do you currently follow us on Social Media? January ~ Party Time!

Believe it or not, January is quite a busy month for our shop with party centerpieces - both flowers and balloons. Although we don't often do January weddings, the types of events that we decorate for early in the year range from social events such as birthday parties and Sweet Sixteens to Corporate events such as post holiday parties and sales kick off events. Here's a peek at just a few of the events we decorated for this week!  Folks love vibrant colors in January.   Created for a 50th birthday party, these centerpieces are sure to amaze the folks who see them at Rho Restaurant in Trenton.   These Asian style centerpieces will be placed 2 on each table with origami birds strung between at Ruth Chris Steakhouse here in Princeton.   A company celebration, these were delivered to north east Philly - both floral centerpieces and balloon floor bouquets. Don't you just love the blue and green combination?   Well, there you have it, just a few of this weekends parties, waitin…

Wonder What Flowers to Send in January?

Have you ever wondered what type of flowers to send in January? Well, you are not alone. Even as florists we often wonder what types of flowers our customers wish to send, what colors, what styles. It's all a mystery in January. Just coming off of Christmas with all those Reds and Whites, do folks still want winter colors and themes or are they looking for something more colorful, it's hard to say.  Take this arrangement for example. Created by our talented designer for a get well, the customer asked for lots of fun colors all mixed together. Who wouldn't want to receive this cheerful bouquet on a rather dreary day in January right? This design can't help but bring a smile with it's combination of blues, pinks, oranges and lime green. Gerbera daises are the focus along with roses, hydrangea and Asiatic lilies. We loved this arrangement so much that we've actually added it to our website. Would you consider sending this to a someone you know?

Will This Wedding Trend Continue into 2015?

What is the trend you ask? Using lots and lots of Baby's Breath. Some folks love it, some folks hate but I don't think any wedding professional can say that using Baby's Breath wasn't a major floral trend in 2014, because it probably was the biggest trend all year.
Personally, I love Baby's Breath and had a given that flowers with a natural and vintage feel were all the rage this past year, I was happy to provide my couples with the flowers of their dreams. That being said, some of floral designer friends became, shall we say, a bit bored by the use of so much of this flower. My feelings were probably a bit more neutral on the subject as I thought the simple look of this pretty flower is both affordable and timeless.  In the case of this wedding, the bridal party was quite large and that translates into heavy dollars to give each girl a bouquet. In the case of the Baby's Breath bouquets, they give a nice full look for a low investment.  Looking head to the coup…
