Sending Smiles ~

If you have been in our shop over the last few days you may notice a few changes. It was time and we we're all so excited for the New Year to arrive! The first part of the remodel was to remove our dated, over sized walk in/display cooler. Folks seem surprised that we wanted to remove this unit but we had some very good reasons. It was 18 years, it had a slow leak that required either $11,000 worth of repairs or $1,000 worth of freon every 3 to 4 months. The most compelling reason for removing this cooler was because although it looked brand new from the outside, it was actually now too big for our needs. Most of customers are unaware that when we expanded 9 years ago, we added another large walk in cooler measuring 12 feet by 15 feet which is more than an enough refrigeration space for our needs. Late June has us creating designs for every occasion from Get Well, Birthday, Graduation and Beyond. The designers have been having fun with the designs they are making, including the arrangements in the cooler for those who need to dash in and back out!  Fresh cut bouquets of mixed flowers ready for those grab and go customers in a rush.   Summer candles arrived last month and are on full display, including this Sunshine in a Can candle from Aunt Sadies.   Coffee Coasters - a fun gift for the coffee drinkers in your life.   Who doesn't love yellow daisies , right?   Coffee mugs for your favorite nurse!   Gorgeous orchid plants in the shop this week!  We love making plant gardens and new tropical plants just arrived.   These polka dot plants are super cute and easy to care for and grown. In the floral industry we hear all kinds of stories; some joyous, some somber. A few weeks ago I received a call from a man who worked at another flower shop .  He needed to send a personal floral gift and he needed it in a hurry. Through the conversation he told me that the recipient of the gift was on her death bed… terminal cancer and did not have much longer to live. He wanted to send a few mixed orchid plants in a large glass or ceramic container and said it needed to arrive the next day as early as possible. As promised, we delivered the orchid arrangement just before noon. I called him back to let him know the delivery had been made so that he would not worry.  He thanked me for taking care of this so quickly and I thanked him in return for trusting this important personal order to our shop to fill. I told him that I hoped the gift helped her to know that she was thought of in a special way.  I hung up and went on about my day, as usual.... A week la...

Did you know that Monday Morning Flowers is 25 years old this year? Founded in 1988 ~ it's hard to believe. In some ways it feels like I've been in this business forever and in other ways, it's hard to believe it's been that long. Things sure have changed since the beginning but it's still all about the customer for me. It's officially fall here at the shop. Some folks think we rush it but as soon as we put out the fall products and merchandise our website with fall arrangements, they start selling. Take this dramatic floral arrangement for example:  It's one of our brand new designs for fall 2012. It's named   Autumn Expressions  and retails for only $42.95. The orange  cube vase makes such a nice keepsake and these rich autumnal colors really pop. Imagine this being delivered to you at work or home? We especially love the assortment of flowers and the dried wheat! Folks have also been starting to buy our Halloween and Thanksgiving table top pieces such as chip and dips, salt and pepper shakers, dried wreaths, wine glasses, pitchers, cookies jars and more.
