Roses to Go

Roses, roses and more roses. Did you know that roses are still the most popular flowers in the whole (yes, the whole wide) world? Well, they are and with good reason. They come in so many gorgeous colors, they have long, straight stems (at least the florist grade ones do) and they last longer than other flowers (iris and peony only last 3 days in a vase). This past weekend we sent out this order to one special young lady. Four huge vases, each filled with 2 dozen long stem roses. Yes, that's 8 dozen roses - Wow! My partner in crime made the delivery and it caused quite a stir. I can only imagine that this special delivery will be remembered for a long, long time! Saying it with flowers

Have you seen the cover of today's Princeton Packet Newspaper? Well, yes, there I am, yours truly in all my "floral" glory. What fun it was to have the "Press" at the shop. It was wonderful of them to put flowers right on their cover and I was honored to be included.  Valentine's Day and flowers - perfect together. Have you noticed how everyone feels a need to say "Don't send flowers this Valentine's Day - send our product instead"? I'm thinking that as florists we should take that as a compliment that we are so often targeted in ads. Marketing 101 - if you have to put down someone elses product, you just might not have a good product yourself. Enough said. For those of us who sell flowers, stand on our own merits. People, especially women, love getting flowers.   No bashing the folks that sell jewelry, chocolates, cell phones, fruit, teddy bears, etc, etc.  Because flowers let you say what's in your heart why not send flowers t

Sweet and Pastel

Choosing flowers for your bridal bouquet can be daunting - to say the least. With so many options, how do you know you'll choose the flowers, style and colors you really love? When I meet with brides I remind them to remember that the flowers they carry will not only be viewed up close but also from a distance. Brides that are fearful of color should take note that soft shading differences, like the ones in this bouquet, make for interesting close ups and add a soft amount of color against their white or ivory gowns. If you are thinking that creams and whites are just too blah for you, why not add a touch of pastel? When in Doubt, Keep it Simple

Vendella roses , originally uploaded by Georgianne at Monday Morning Flowers . Roses, glorious roses. I meet with so many brides that have trouble deciding on what flowers to carry but you have to admit, this bouquet is pretty. Simple, elegant, timeless and down right affordable, a simple hand tied bouquet of roses is always a lovely choice. Looking for something with a bit more bling? Just add some flower jewelry between the roses. What about accents of pearls at the center of each rose? Winter wedding and looking for an ice look? How about adding an touch of sparkle with glitter? Looking to soften the look a bit? Add a rim of soft white feathers or even a pretty foliage such as plumosa fern for a more casual feel. When in doubt, keep it simple and roses are always a wonderful choice!
