September is All About Weddings

Image
Well, that is actually a bit misleading as September keeps us busy with all kinds of things from Weddings, to Funerals, School Decorating Events and the list goes on. I must admit, however, that creating wedding flowers for sweet and deserving couples is always a stand out at our shop. Take last weekend for example. We had three weddings and although we had to really hustle to get everything created, delivered and set up, it's such rewarding work. The photo above is for our beautiful bride Amanda K (yes we had 2 Amanda's in one day) and her handsome hubby Jon. Their wedding took place at the Boat House at Mercer County Park and although unseasonably warm, the day was spectacular and the lake view amazing. Are you planning a wedding for 2018? Now is the time to book your date with us!! To see more of our wedding designs be sure to visit our wedding website at www.perfectweddingflowers.com

Cascade or Not to Cascade ~ an update on Wedding Trends for late 2014 into 2015

Many of our couples this year have chosen traditional romantic designs with a few even choosing cascade bouquets. As a designer, I just love these elegant and flowing bouquets and I'm hoping to see more brides choose them next year.  Speaking of trends, we are seeing less and less "shabby chic, country and rustic" weddings for late 2014 and early 2015 and more couples choosing a more traditional theme but with a "natural feel" ~ such as an Eng

Give the Carnations a Chance!

Image
When I started working at Monday Morning Flowers, I was your typical “no carnations please” kind of gal.  Thinking back, I didn't even really have a reason to dislike them other than their commonality, which is really a blessing rather than a curse.  Here are some fun things about carnations to take into consideration before you ask to leave the “carns” out: 1. T he Ultimate “Long Lasting” Flower :   Often people specify for a “long-lasting” arrangement – of course!   Who wants a floral design to last one day?!   When I ask what kind of flowers they like, a popular answer is Hydrangea.   It’s beautiful, yes, but long-lasting, not so much.   Carnations on the other hand – will last for weeks sometimes.   Change their water and they are the sure to keep up beautifully for much longer than most flowers, including your average rose. 2. No Need to Break the Bank :   We sell carnations for only $1.99 per stem.   They are affordable, and with their size, you can fill out a
