Are Your Vendors Motivated to Help You....

Image
Are your vendors motivated to help you and why you should care.... Let's start with the definition of Motivation. Simple Definition of  motivation :  the act or process of giving someone a reason for doing something : the act or process of motivating someone :  the condition of being eager to act or work : the condition of being motivated :  a force or influence that causes someone to do something Wondering what this has to do with a Florist & you? If you are planning a wedding or other social or business event, this may be the most important blog you will read. Yes, I'm that confident in the content of what I'm about to say so here we go... Let's back step a bit & talk about you? Do you hold a job? Do you report to a boss? Thinking about your work environment, what do you like about your job? Perhaps you love your coworkers. Maybe you love your boss (yes it's possible). How about the customers or clients you serve? I'm gues...

How to Know You are Dealing with a Real Florist

Image
The holidays are the perfect time to send friends, family and clients flowers through a florist but buyer beware. Sending flowers is easy and affordable and did you know that people that send flowers are seen as "thoughtful and sincere". It's true and a Rutger's University study proved it.  So for that person who has it all, sending a pretty floral centerpiece for the holiday could be the perfect gift but buyer beware so read on!  Over the years there have many businesses that have popped up online acting as if they are a real florist when in reality, they are a call center collecting orders. These business have been funneling orders away from local florists for years, charge the consumer an extra fee (sometimes as high as $17!!!) and then transmit the order back to a local florist for them to full fill and deliver. Some of these businesses are down right sneaky and have names that make them appear to be located in a certain town. When ever you order onlin...

Skyrocket Your Business Interview

Image
Last week I had the priviledge of being interviewed by Helen Burton (pictured below) on the Princeton Community Television. How cool it was to drive over to the TV Studio with butterflies in my tummy but full of excitement. For those of you that don't know... my first year of college was spent as a Communications major with the dream of becoming a TV Camera"man" someday. Back in those days, I loved being behind the scenes and even tried my hand at directing, which is just about the scariest thing I ever did! My buddy Mary and I would roam our College campus looking for folks to interview - her out in front of the camera and me behind. Well, this was certainly a change for me and a scary one at that! Being interviewed about what it takes to be in business was super fun and after a few minutes of staring at my hostess Helen, I began to relax and give my honest view points on what it's like to be the "Boss".  The program is called Skyrock Your Business a...

The Sales and Design Staff at Christmas

Image
Have you ever wondered who arranges the flowers here at our shop or takes your phone call? Well, here is most of the crew!! Norman is all the way in the back, and new designer Samantha in front of him. Then that's Theresa who after a few years away is back at the Princeton shop - she used to manage our Yardley store. All the way in the back is Design Coordinator Holly, and in front of her is designer Rocio. Tina is in the back on the right and she preps all the flowers and keeps us all neat and clean. Sitting in the front on the bottom is Sales Associate and Marketing Assistant Melissa. Behind her is me, Georgianne. Next to us is to the left is Shop Coordinator Sheryl and Sales Associate Heena (how has been with us over 10 years!). Well, anyway, you know have a face to put with some names. These folks assist our clients with smile and design with all their might to deliver the best possible product and customer service!!

Scenes from the Shops - December 2010

Here's the Yardley shop all decorated for the season. We started early this year because just after Thanksgiving our business ramps up for the holidays, leaving little time to decorate our own spaces!! The wreath that hangs on the front door of the Princeton Forrestal Village was created by designer Norman. A tree at the Yardley shop holds all kinds of sweet holiday gifts. Each of the Yardley staff have their own stocking, hung with care - of course! Don't forget about our free book exchange. It's completely free and we have over 350 books to choose from! This year we brought in a line of silks for the holidays. Perfect to decorate the home, wreaths and we even use many in the custom grave blankets we decorate. A newly decorated wreaths awaits delivery to a lucky family! Wreaths make nice gifts! This year we have added line of chocolates. They are made for us by a local chocolatier and have for both Hanukkah and Christmas. They have been very good sellers so far! As alwa...

A Real Wedding

Image
We had great fun creating the wedding flowers for Kate and Chris. Colorful rose and gerbers - our favorites! Love this shot by Jeff Tisman photography which shows the natural beauty, up close and personal, of our flowers! We really loved the pop of the oranges and yellows against these deep pink dresses! How cute are these flower girls. I love the dresses and the tiny babies breath halos were the perfect touch, don't you think? Kate carried a big bouquet of all pink roses in three different shades. Simple but elegant. So sweet - love the sky in this photo. Makes me want to get married all over again, just so Jeff Tisman can take my wedding photos!! :o) Clear glass cube vases filled with hot pink, orange, green and yellow flowers really popped and made a summery statement! Simple touches of colorful flowers makes such a difference on this gorgeous cake! Our designer Holly did such a great job! I think you'll agree that Kate and Chris's wedding just screamed summer! To see th...
