Carnations and Roses - Perfect Together

Image
Roses and Carnations are 2 of my favorite flowers and I especially love them together. One of this weekends weddings has us using both types of flowers in brides maids bouquets.   The difference in texture and the slight shading difference will looks especially pretty in pictures when taken from a distance. In this case, the carnations also help with cost because our bride has quite a few attendants and needed to keep the cost down. To see these and more of our floral designs, be sure to hop over to our website at www.sendingsmiles.com  and check out some of our other blogs and videos  that talk about how to save money on your wedding flowers!

Red and Ravishing

Image
A red bridal bouquet is not for everyone but if you want to go bold, this just might be the wedding color for you! This bouquet made for our bride Alex yesterday was both striking and dramatic. Red roses in 2 shades and red mini callas accented with green hypericum berries was a sight to be hold!!  Here I am doing a bit of modeling with this striking  bouquet. Honestly the photos don't really do the color and texture justice!! What is nice about a deep, rich color like red is that in bright sunlight the color stays very true. A great thing on a sunny summer day in July! We can't wait to see Alex's pictures, can you? Each week when the wedding flowers arrive we hold our breath until we see them. In this weeks case, the flowers were spectacular and each variety chosen really complimented each other (I will pat myself on the back for that one). I rarely interject my personal tastes but when I do, I've been know to say that red is not one of my favorite colors

Color Trends for 2012 Weddings

Because of our heavy wedding and event schedule this week, we were not able to attend the Society of American Florist convention this week. One of the discussions I was looking forward to was color trends for 2012. Imagine my surprise when following the convention online, I noticed that the color most likely to trend for next years weddings was red!! Over the past 2 weekends, we have done two weddings for brides named Julia and both have chosen red bouquets! Last weeks bride, who's wedding had a casino theme complete with gaming tables, included fun elements such as feathers and tulle into her bouquet. This weeks Julia kept things simple and classic (see her bouquet above) by having us hand tie Black Bacara roses accented with tiny gems for a touch of sparkle. As brides start meeting with us for their 2012 weddings, I'll be sure to report back on the colors, flowers and other elements they will be using. That's what we love most about doing weddings... things are always ch
