What's New and What's Organic

Image
I love our signs around the shop and as this one says, Plants are the Ultimate Organic Gift. Right now now we are selling more plants than ever before and with all the cool options, it's not really a surprise. Not only do they make a great gift but folks love having them in the own home and office. Terrariums and Air- Terrariums have become so popular that we are dedicating space the store to glass containers along with specialty stones, moss and more.  With our wide selection of mini tropical plants, succulents and air plants, you can come into the shop, pick out your plants , container and other elements to go home and create your own living garden .  check out these new little cut Echeveria's in a bag. Aren't they adorable. They even come with instruction on how to root them and turn them into a thriving plant. At only $14.99, they make a wonderful little gift for a friend, teacher or relative.

Our Time at Harmony School

Image
Well, if the smiles are any indication, the children at the Harmony School in Princeton Forrestal Village really enjoyed their Terrarium making class hosted by our Designers Alanna and Norman. Norman could not get over how well behaved the children were, how bright and what a wonderful job they did. Future florists perhaps?  Designer Normans shows them how it's done.   The children were just too adorable for words.   And they were very proud of their creations! Not only did they learn about plants but they get to take them home. All in all, it was a wonderful day! A special thanks to the Harmony School for inviting us to come into their facility!   Would you like us to come out to your school or senior center? We'd love to! For more information contact us at 609.520.2005 and we'll be happy to talk about our many programs .

Terrarium or Flower Centerpiece?

Image
Well, actually, it's both! We began creating terrarium floral centerpieces for tomorrows wedding and although most have been created with flowers, they also include some plant material like this one. Three purple roses, mosses and ivy plants combine to make an elegant floral display, don't you think?  What I really love is how each table will going to be a completely different "container" and so no 2 will look the same. Our color palate is purples and blues and so we are using blue roses and orchids with accents of river stones, fresh mosses, glass gems and even terrarium sand. The bride and grooms also provided us with some fun little characters such as faeries and tiny terrarium animals such as frogs, turtles and even birds. I can't wait to see these all set up at the Lambertville Inn tomorrow night and I'll be sure to post photos!

Air Plants and Terrariums - for the home and office

Image
Doesn't it feel good to have natural , organic elements in your home and office? I truly think you feel better when you are surrounded by nature and air plants are a great addition to any setting. Are you away a lot? Do you have limited space to dedicate to plants? If so, air plants might be perfect for you. We've had fun stocking them in the store and folks are loving them. Take this mini hanging terrarium. For only $14.95 this plant is perfect for home or office. Hang in the window, over a sink or attach to a window with a suction cup. Air plants do need water but not often and no soil needed (hence the air plant name).  If you have a little more room to dedicate, why not have us make you a larger terrarium with multiple air plants ? Clear gems, natural river stones, moss, sand - the design options are limitless!    We love these little sphere terrarium plant bowls. Add some colored sand and hit with a touch of water once a week and you are good to go! They ...

Our Next Class - Terrarium Building Take 2

We had so much fun with our first Terrarium Making Class that we have scheduled a second one for  September 12 - from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at our Princeton Store in Forrestal Village. What's it all about? Well you get to mingle with fun folks, drink wine, eat delicious local cheese from Tre Piani Restaurant and then make your very own Terrarium to bring home. With lots of elements to choose from you get to customize it to your home colors and decor. At a cost of $75, you'll agree, it's a great deal for a night of fun. Ask customer Martha (above)  who not only had a blast but made new friends (apparently her and Jean were having lunch the following week). Past Mother of the Groom Jacquie (behind Martha) brought her friend and they seemed to enjoy themselves! Many of this months participant signed up for our Wreath making class to be held on October 3 here at the Princeton store. The Terrarium class only has 12 spaces so reserve your spot early. The wreath making cla...

Terrarium Making Class in Princeton

Image
Last night we held our very first Terrarium making class and what a fun time we all had. About 12 folks got together for wine, cheese and a lesson in how to make their own terrariums. Led by shop staff Alanna and Sheryl, each person was able to choose their own plants, sand, gravel, moss and even butterflies and birds. I must say, there just might be some future floral designers among our students!  Everyone proudly displayed their works of living art at the end in a group shot and it was fun to see all their bright smiles. We'll be doing more classes in the fall - another Terrarium class on 9/12, a wreath making class on 10/3 and look for a Boxwood tree class in late November!  Thanks to the dynamic duo of Alanna and Sheryl for all their hard work for organizing, hosting and teaching the class. 6 out of 12 people at this class were happy enough with their experience to sign up for our Wreath making class and we can't wait to get started organizing that!  We w...
