Delivering Smiles Since 1988

Image
Did you know that Monday Morning Flowers is 25 years old this year? Founded in 1988 ~ it's hard to believe. In some ways it feels like I've been in this business forever and in other ways, it's hard to believe it's been that long. Things sure have changed since the beginning but it's still all about the customer for me. Delivering Smiles, Delivering Satisfaction ~ each time, every time.  Thank you to all our past, present and future customers that allow us to do what we love ~ Helping You Send Someone a Smile !

Wedding Flowers ~ Just for the Day? You Bet!

Image
It's just for the day! Yikes, we cringe every time someone says that to us while discussing wedding flowers . It's usually followed by "I don't want to spend a lot of money on them". Everything for your wedding day is for the day - you'll wear your gown once (but it will be in pictures), you'll listen to the DJ and dance (memories of fun that will last a lifetime) and you'll enjoy delicious food and drinks (hm, where is that the next day?).  Yes, flowers don't live forever (neither do people) but they do bring much to the "table" literally with regards to your wedding day. Take this wedding for Rhiannon and Joe ~ we had so much fun creating these fun wine themed centerpieces. They provided the mason jars and boxes and we did the rest.  Obviously they not only looked pretty on the tables but look what they did when they got them home? More than "Just for the day" don't you agree?

Rhiannon's Bridal Bouquet

Finally, wedding season is around the corner and kicking off the season is Rhiannon's pretty, vintage and wine inspired wedding bouquet. Hydrangea with pops of baby's breath, statice and Picasso mini calla lilies will be the perfect accompaniment to her bridal gown.  Do you like this bouquet? We'd love to hear your thoughts!

Spring is Party Time

Image
Spring has finally arrived. Goodness, we never thought it would come but with it comes so many fun events for us to create centerpieces for. Don't you love these cube centerpieces of blue hydrangea, dahlias, berries and bells of Ireland? They just scream Spring to me!  These were for a baby shower.  Wow, cube arrangements still remain popular and these pretty in pink centerpieces include pink roses, gerbera daisies and lilies. They smell good too! These were for an Anniversary party.    Who says floral centerpieces have to be huge and expensive? These colorful little bubble bowls will look amazing on the tables and would be perfect in any setting for any kind of party .   These sweet centerpieces have hydrangeas, roses, bells with carnations and those bright colors are sure to light up the room.  Want to see more of our event floral centerpiece design? Check out our website at www.mondaymorningballoons.com  and don't forget, floral centerpieces don't have to

Finding a Real Florist and Not an Order Gatherer

Image
Don't you love the Internet? We do but with the invent of the internet came a very bad thing for florists ~ The dreaded Order Gatherer. What is an Order Gatherer you ask? It's a business who sometimes claims to be a physical floral store, located in a town where they really are not located. How do they stay in business? By acting like they are a real florist , they "gather" orders and then turn around and send them via a floral network such as Teleflora or FTD back to real florists who then fill them.  Why is this bad?  First off, it's bad for the florist, because the orders are "stolen" away from them and then often resent back to them at a lower price than the consumer pays.  Second, this is bad for the consumer because they are often paying a high fee almost $20 in some cases, that goes to the "order gatherer" directly and not into their floral gift. Some even do what we call skimming, which means they pay the florist even less than

Gerbera Daisy Wedding Bouquets

Image
Don't you just love daisies, especially pink daisies? So do we and how fun it was to create this sweet bouquet for a bride picking it up at our Yardley store last week. A mixture of light and medium pink gerbera daisies accented with fresh waxflower. Such a sweet, early spring bouquet ~ just makes us happy looking at it. Wedding season is just around the corner so be sure to come back often to see all the new wedding flowers trends for 2013.

Shamrock's for St. Patrick's Day

Image
Keeping with the St. Patrick's Day theme, this weeks $5 Flower Friday is a small Shamrock plant decorated for the holiday weekend. We also have very cool green flower bouquets... aren't they pretty?   Haven't heard about our $5 Flower Friday specials? Each Friday we offer (at both stores of course) a special flower deal for only $5. Last week we had bouquets of iris and the week before that we had bouquets of freesia.  We know the supermarket has cheap flowers but what we try to offer are flowers you won't see in the market and ones we usually sell for $15, $20 or even $30 on other days. It's our way of making it worth your while to stop in, say hi and buy flowers from us instead of picking them up when you go shopping. In doing so, we hope you remember us for all those other special times when flowers are the perfect fit to the occasion. These little cutie of a plant are limited but we hope to see you at either of our stores ~ Princeton Forrestal Village

St. Patrick's Day Flowers

You know what they say, everyone is Irish on St. Patrick's Day ! Although it's not a huge floral holiday for us, we do send out our fair share of fun, Irish themed floral arrangement, and I'll bet this years Irish Puppy will be our best seller. With our shop in Princeton, NJ and Yardley PA, we deliver to over 70 zip codes - even on Sunday!  All green arrangements are always popular but never more so that on March 17th. This arrangement below called Green Graces is on our website year round but it's especially popular during this holiday!    Don't you just love Bells of Ireland ? Yes, those tall stalks of lovely green bell shaped flowers. We use Bells of Ireland in our arrangements year round but at this time of year they take on special meaning!    Don't you just love this hand tied bouquet of all green flowers with the little shamrock made from wire? This Shamrock Bouquet is the perfect gift for the holiday weekend for someone who has their ow

All of Your Prom Corsage and Boutonniere Questions- Answered!

Image
All of Your Prom Corsage and Boutonniere Questions- Answered! What is a prom corsage? A prom corsage is a small floral arrangement to be worn on a female’s wrist or collar. The prom corsage is typically purchased and given to her by her prom date. The wrist corsage is the most common kind, and is typically chosen to match the prom dress. What is a boutonniere? A boutonniere is a floral design worn by a male on the lapel of a suit or tux. The boutonniere is typically bought for him by his prom date and is chosen to match the prom corsage. What wrist is the corsage worn on? Proper etiquette calls for the corsage to be worn on the left wrist, unless the person wearing it is left-handed. If left-handed, the corsage can be worn on the right wrist. Do the corsage and boutonniere have to match? It is not a rule that they match, however the couple will look more put together if they do. The boutonniere gives a touch of color to match the male to his prom date though

Tribute to Women Awards ~ Princeton YWCA 2013

Image
Although we've provided corsages over the years for this inspiring event, this was the first year that I actually helped out by not only being on the Committee but was Co-Chair! What a great night it was!  Here I am with past honorees Debbie Schaeffer and Denise Taylor. It was so nice to have them in the audience again this year.    This is the first time the organization paired a raffle with the event and thanks to Hamilton Jewelers who donated a lovely pearl necklace. The ladies of the YWCA did a great job selling those raffle tickets and over $2,000 was raised!  While the ladies shared cocktails in the lobby, my dear husband along with Designer Holly and Matt helped set up the 39 tables of centerpieces we donated the nights event! Kevin worked hard to light all those floating candles!    The efforts were worth it and the guests loved the centerpieces .   Another year that Monday Morning Flower and Balloon Co was happy to help out with a great event and a great

Plants, Plants and More Plants.

Image
It's funny how product we sell goes in cycles and right now folks are all wanting plants. As you may know, we make our own dish gardens, terrariums and planters and last week plants arrived from our Greenhouse Suppliers 3 times. Each time, they practically flew off the shelves with bromeliads, violets and mini calla lily plants being the best sellers.  Imagine Designer Norman's face when this new Terrarium House arrived on Friday. He went right to work creating a little garden inside. This one is quite large and sells for 159.95 so if you are looking for a unique and special gift idea, this might be the perfect thing for you. These pretty gardens are not available on our website but we'd be happy to create one just for you so give us a call at 609-520-2005.  This morning new tropical plants arrived including these mini bromeliads and they are just so colorful. Easy  to care for, these are the perfect little hostess or corporate gift. To see more examples of our pl

Our Floral Design Class

Image
This weeks " Principles of Floral Design " class was a huge success. 12 ladies joined us to learn about floral design and to made their own creations to bring home with them. Led by our Design Manager Holly and Assisted by Designer/Customer Care Coordinator Alanna, the ladies learned about Balance, Depth, Rhythm and Harmony. The class was a blend of Newbies to our classes and veterans who have been to 2 or more of our In Store Events . Doesn't it look like the ladies had fun?  Holly explains depth to the students.    Attendees had fun taking photos of their arrangements.    Attendees like Debbie and Lynn had fun taking pictures of themselves.    The students had fun looking at each others designs.    Attendee Laureen was taking pictures each step of the way to send to her husband.    Floral Design and Wine, what could be better? This class was only $55 and included food. Interesting in our future classes? Be sure to visit our website at www.sendi
