Our Favorite Winter Weddings

Image
We love doing Winter Weddings and here are a few of our favorites from the last few years!  Bride Alexa had super fun with her girls - they each carried baby's breath and don't you just love her adorable blue sweater. Her bouquet was blue hydrangea and white anemone's with navy blue centers.   This tear drop bouquet was gorgeous (even if it's not the best picture). Garden roses and stephanotis looked amazing with a back drop of all rich red poinsettias. The flower girl even carried an adorable wand of fresh roses with streaming gold ribbons.   This New Years Eve wedding was so simple and elegant - all white roses, calla lilies and silver brunia berries.   This early winter wedding at the Nassau Inn had a Scottish theme!  Winter white with accents of silvery ~ the bridal blue had a hint of midnight blue delphinium.   This elegant design was placed in the lobby outside the Prince William Ballroom at the Nassau Inn - so pretty and...

Wonder What Flowers to Send in January?

Image
Have you ever wondered what type of flowers to send in January ? Well, you are not alone. Even as florists we often wonder what types of flowers our customers wish to send, what colors, what styles. It's all a mystery in January . Just coming off of Christmas with all those Reds and Whites, do folks still want winter colors and themes or are they looking for something more colorful, it's hard to say.  Take this arrangement for example. Created by our talented designer for a get well, the customer asked for lots of fun colors all mixed together. Who wouldn't want to receive this cheerful bouquet on a rather dreary day in January right? This design can't help but bring a smile with it's combination of blues, pinks, oranges and lime green. Gerbera daises are the focus along with roses, hydrangea and Asiatic lilies. We loved this arrangement so much that we've actually added it to our website . Would you consider sending this to a someone you know?

A New Years Eve Wedding -

Image
Don't you just love the stem accent on this bridal bouquet? An elegant cream ribbon accented with pearls and rhinestones. So romantic and elegant.  Sahara roses are by far one of our favorite roses here at the store. When a bride does not want white or ivory, these roses are a lovely shade of soft beige and along with the Sahara roses we added in Vendella roses which are a very soft ivory. In this case we added a rim of lace dusty miller for a hint of softness and a touch of silver, without the bling.   Notice the color below in full sunlight.  This photo taken in the store shows the creaminess of the roses and the full effect of the stem treatment. A soft wired ribbon accented with tiny pearls. The height of elegance and romance.

Purple Mystery Flower

What is the flower? Can you guess? I'll bet you think it's a rose? Nope, it's actually a form of ornamental kale that we use in floral arrangements. This variety is hands down our favorite and it's called "Red Crane" and comes through the dutch market and is grown in Holland green houses. Apparently, it's edible but we've never tried it and I'm thinking we probably won't! Long lasting yet fun and fancy, our designers love "Kale Season". If you order a flower arrangement from our shop, you just might find it among the other blooms. It's especially nice used in Thanksgiving centerpieces and the green and white variety are spectacular during Christmas! Take advantage of Kale Season and ask for this awesome flower when you place your order!
