Our Balloons in Action

Image
You may remember a few months back Kevin wrote a blog post about how balloons make people happy and so this photo came quickly to mind. Last week a customer came in and said she wanted balloons for later in the day to be delivered to her home for her son's 10th Birthday. http://www.sendingsmiles.com/princeton-plainsboro-trenton-florist/birthday-flowers-and-gifts-11334c.asp?topnav=LeftNav She wanted something bright and colorful, plus she wanted her son to be Wow'd. I'm thinking that Jack was pretty speechless when these rainbow colored balloon tree were delivered.  We love when customers share photos and being she stopped in the next morning to let us know how happy Jack was, plus shared a photo, really plays to the fact that Balloons truly make people happy! Guest Blog By: Our very own - Kevin Vinicombe Most people aren’t aware of the significant Helium shortage currently in the United States until they try to purchase Helium filled Balloons from their local Party Shop or Florist.   Some retailers that use Helium for decorating or resale are finding it increasingly difficult to secure a supply; some vendors are rationing or completely cutting off retailers. Unfortunately the shortage as been creeping up on us for a long time, some experts say it began in the 1996 when the US Government starting selling their reserves to private refiners as part of the Helium Privatization Act.   This made helium a plentiful resource for years, until recently. Helium is extracted during the same process with Natural Gas and since we’ve experienced a mild Winter the extraction of Natural Gas has been minimized even though there is plenty of Gas available.   It boils down to basic Economics of Supply/Demand and Cost/Benefit for the company’s that ext

Balloons and the Environment

BALLOONS AND THEIR BIO-DEGRADABLE NATURE Have you ever wonder if latex balloons are good for the environment and the answer is yes! There are two types of balloons in wide general use - latex and mylar. This distinction is important because each type requires different handling. Latex balloons are easily identified by their elastic character and are composed of natural rubber sap and small amounts of non-toxic coagulants and pigments. They are 100% bio-degradable. When exposed to outdoor elements they are completely consumed by soil or water micro-organisms at a rate quicker than that experienced by an oak leaf under identical conditions. In much the same way maple syrup is harvested from the maple tree, the production of latex balloons contributes positively to the preservation of tropical rain forests. Thanks Kevin for providing the information for this blog! To see more photos of our balloon even decorations vis

Ok, ok, I know what you thinking. Why do you have Christmas product displayed at the shops already?? Right, come on, you were thinking it. I could hear you through my computer but honestly it's because people seem to want to buy it. Take these pretty ornaments that just came in. The first day we displayed them, someone came in and bought 2 right off the bat!   Another cute product to arrive are the funny, little pillows and matching coffee mug - nice until proven naughy, the nice list is over-rated. How cute! How could we not put them out when they make us laugh just reading them.    Above and below is some of our fall products. Every year at this time we bring back our peanut brittle - yum and our fall and winter scented candles from Yankee Candles.  Don't forget about our $5 Friday specials. Each Friday we have a special floral deal for only $15. Last week we had mixed bouquets that normally would sell for $15 for only $5 bucks. You can't beat that!  Popcorn, popcorn
