Balloons and the Environment

BALLOONS AND THEIR BIO-DEGRADABLE NATURE Have you ever wonder if latex balloons are good for the environment and the answer is yes! There are two types of balloons in wide general use - latex and mylar. This distinction is important because each type requires different handling. Latex balloons are easily identified by their elastic character and are composed of natural rubber sap and small amounts of non-toxic coagulants and pigments. They are 100% bio-degradable. When exposed to outdoor elements they are completely consumed by soil or water micro-organisms at a rate quicker than that experienced by an oak leaf under identical conditions. In much the same way maple syrup is harvested from the maple tree, the production of latex balloons contributes positively to the preservation of tropical rain forests. Gift Table

Image
My last blog talked about the importance of the Escort/Place Card table and that got me to thinking about the gift table. Is it worth decorating the gift table at your wedding or other event such as a shower or birthday party? My answer is a definite "Maybe"!! Is the table in an area that will be seen all night? Does it need a little something to help say "Here, Put your gifts here?". If so, it might be worth putting some of your decor budget towards decorating the gift table. Often we do a tall floral display or a bouquet of balloons, as in the case of sweet 16 and mitzvah parties. Even a garland of fresh foliage accented with flowers, ribbons or event branches looks lovely if it matches the over all theme of the event!! It's Time for a Party!

Image
I really love the change of the seasons and apparently so does everyone else if the amount of party orders coming in is any indication! Sweet Sixteens, Surprise Birthdays and Anniversaries parties are coming in hot and heavy right now. It's always fun working with clients on these types of parties because they are not so huge an event that it's overwhelming but they sure are milestones worth celebrating. Most of the hotels and banquet halls we work at are beautiful but it sure does make the event more festive to decorate the space. Balloons and flowers are still the main staples of special event decor and themes are always fun. With Cinderella themed showers, masked ball sweet sixteens and mardi gras birthday parties how could we ever be bored! Remember, life is short and there's always a good excuse to throw a party!!

Congratulations to the Trenton Thunder Ball Team who hosted the All-Star Games yesterday! Our very capable balloon team of David and Kevin created this huge balloon arch to welcome patrons to the ballpark! Over 100 feet in length, it officially the largest balloon arch we have ever created! Great job boys!! Scenes from a Prom - A Night at the Oscars

Image
How fun was this? This past Friday we did the prom for West Milford High School. Their theme was Oscar Night! The event was held at The Tides and we decked out the place with lots of movie themed balloons. All the students were greeted with a large balloon arch as they walked along the red carpet. The organizers really did a great job of adding additional props such as huge popcorn containers, themed centerpieces and full size movie star pop ups. My Event Staff, Sheryl and David, did a wonderful job and had a great time working on site. Kelly and her team from the High School were a pleasure to work with. According to Kelly, the students loved the decor and had a fabulous time! To see more of our event work, including balloon decor check out our website at http://www.mondaymorningballoons.com/

Balloon Decorating Website - It's Finally Live

Have you ever noticed how sometimes it's hard to think of a business in more than one way? For example: maybe you always think of McDonald's as the place to get great burgers or even fries but we forget they make wonderful salads and really good coffee. Now, this is not an advertisement for McDonald's, even though I'm a huge fan, even own stock! No, it's just that even for my business, it's hard to get my customers to think of us as more than a florist. Even though the word Balloon is in our name, sometimes people don't realize that we do all kinds of balloon event decor such as balloon columns, arches, centerpieces. As a matter of fact, I did balloon decorating quite a few years before I started doing flowers for weddings. We blow up over 40,000 balloons every single year! Now that's a lot of balloons. Anyway, the point of the blog is that we are more than a florist, we are event decorators and I want to scream it from the highest mountain (well, maybe
