Amanda's Wedding Flowers ~ an Early Spring Affair

Image
We love when professional photographers share pictures from wedding flowers we create. These pictures are from Amanda's wedding in early June and we actually just provided flowers for her sister Morgan's wedding last week! Don't you love the colors? Very unique and such fun!

Blue Wedding Orchids

Image
It's all about the color blue for last months wedding for George and Rachel. My personal favorite were the blue orchids used for the chuppah but hydrangeas and delphinium in shocking cobalt blue were also featured. Truly a blue and white theme, the wedding flowers were striking and dramatic against the neutral but elegant back drop of the newly renovated Nassau Inn Ballroom.  Rachel's bridal bouquet was stunningly created using ivory roses, white mini callas and deep blue delphinium. The centerpieces were designed in elegant footed compotes that were silver and included ivory roses, deep blue hydrangeas and touches of delphinium and assorted spring foliage. The chuppah was amazingly adorned with draping blue dyed orchids and accented with draping vines and ivy.  Thank you Kyo Morishima Photography for the amazing photos of the elegant blue wedding !

Lovely Lilacs

I feel like it's been forever since I blogged but I guess surviving the biggest floral holiday (and creating floral designs for 2 weddings) will do that! Actually, I blogged on May 8th and talked about last minute Mother's Day Gift ideas and wow, what a great holiday we had. Ok, back to the topic at hand ~ Lovely Lilacs. Have you noticed those lovely lavender colored flowers starting to grace your bushes at home here in NJ and PA? Yes, the local lilacs are in season and one of last weeks weddings had us using bunches and bunches of them in wedding bouquets and centerpieces. Although we were a bit too busy to get the usual photographs , I couldn't resist this shot of our delivery van loaded with these amazing centerpieces. The fragrance inside the van was amazing and driver Jeff and Set Up Assistant Matt were traveling in style on their way to the Lambertville Inn to set this wedding up.  Elegant ceramic compotes were filled lushly with lilacs, lavender Ocean Song

Peonies and Garden Rose - A guest blog by our Designer Nicole

Image
Peonies  and Garden Roses     By Nicole Foy Peonies are one of the most requested flowers for bridal bouquets but few people realize just how limited of a time frame they are available.  If you live in the Northeast, you have already seen them come and go in a matter of a week or two.  In terms of wholesale availability, they are available from about mid May to mid June.  They have been known to be available year round but the prices tend to differ dramatically from Spring to the other three seasons a year.  And with Peonies already being an expensive flower even when the are in season, many have asked if an appropriate visual, as well as more economic, substitution is available...   I have always suggested the garden rose, which differs from a traditional rose.  Garden roses are much more delicate and have fluffier petals much like the look of the peony.  They are also equally as fragrant which is one of the many appeals of both the peony and the garden rose.  Many love th

Waiting for Spring

Image
With Valentine's Day behind us we look forward to all the Spring flowers that will soon be filling the shop such as hyacinths, sweet peas, tulips and other fun blooms such as lavender statice, daffodils, lisianthus and more. My personal favorite colors are the pinks and purples and don't you just love those huge Japanese Sweet Pea that Kristin is holding? They are enormous and very long lasting.  Soon the Spring weddings will begin and it's been fun seeing the colors and flowers that are in demand for Spring weddings. I'll be sure to post them as the year moves along! For now, let's just breath deep and wait for Spring to arrive.

Zulma's April Wedding Bouquet

Image
It's always fun to be hired for a last minute wedding and we really enjoyed creating this one for bride Zulma. Shades of peach, lavender, pale pink and white using mini gerber daisies, roses, pom pon daisies, carnations and babies breath combined into a restful and sweet wedding bouquet. Similar flowers were used in the altar arrangement and the table centerpieces. Pops of soft spring greenery complete the look and should make for one happy bride and groom!! Congrats to all the folks getting married this weekend. To see this and more of our wedding designs visit our websites at www.sendingsmiles.com and www.perfectweddingflowers.com
