New Arrivals for the Holidays
Thanksgiving is over, can you believe that this weekend it will be December? This year just flew by. December is a big flower buying month but that doesn't mean that we don't have non-flower gifts as part of the shop offerings. Whenever new items arrive, it's like an early Christmas for me. Take these new Raku Potterworks incense holders. Each one has a different botanical or metaphysical design. Priced at just $14.99 these would make a wonderful gift. Each one is boxed and comes with a description of how they are created. Each is hand made and no too look exactly the same.
Raku generally refers to a type of low-firing process that was inspired by traditional Japanese raku firing. Western-style raku usually involves removing pottery from the kiln while at bright red heat and placing it into containers with combustible materials. Once the materials ignite, the containers are closed. This produces an intense reduction atmosphere which affects the colors and glazes. The drastic thermal shock also produces cracking (known as crackling since it is deliberate). The original Japanese style of raku is an outgrowth from Buddhist influences in life and especially in the tea ceremony.
We hope to see you this holiday season!!!
