Hope you are all having a fabulous summer . The weather has been touch and go but the pace here at the shop has slowed down and now begins the work of cleaning, organizing and planning for the fall. We've even heard stories about futuristic drones flying over head and dropping off packages at our front door!   Being in the floral delivery business my company should consider this type of exceptional service - oh wait, we already do!  Yes, the floral industry has been offering same day, expedited delivery since the beginning, long before any of the "revolutionary" online retailers or the Internet even existed. In fact, florist have been delivering flowers within hours of the customer placing their order, long before most of the managers of the online company's were born - funny, but I'm serious. Have you ever noticed how many people just love angels and even collect them? We've always had angels in our shop but we recently brought in a few more styles and have more arriving later on this month. We love suggesting Fall and Thanksgiving Gift ideas like this one!  I love this line of Thanksgiving tableware that we have for the holiday this year.  You probably saw our recent post where I talked about all the new Non-Floral items we have coming into the shop . It's been fun going out  on a bit of a limb this past year to bring in broader range of products in to the store. We've been doing our $5 Friday Flowers for over a  year now and between the 2 shops, we have over 30 folks come in for their fresh bouquets each week. That got us to thinking because once our loyal customers were coming in for those bouquets, many were surprised to see the wide selection of items were carried such as greeting cards, candy, plush animals, plants, candles and even jewelry. Once I realized that our "foot traffic" was on the rise, currently running 100% ahead of last year, I knew it was time to bring in more products and even broaden our existing lines. I live and breath flowers, flowers, flowers, flowers - it's what I think about all the time. No matter where I am or what I'm doing, if there are flowers there, I notice them. So obviously, I've learned a thing or two and these are the Top 3 Things I've learned About Selling Flowers!  Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Flowers are like food. Some people love Escargot and will pay any price for them while others think of them as no better than a slug found in their garden.  Flowers are the same way - some folks will see the rare and unusual as something worthy of a high price tag, while others just don't see that appeal. Take the arrangement above for example: The roses are pretty common and affordable but the Dutch  Asclepias , the star shaped orange flowers are  much more unusual and rare, thus costing more.  Who says you have to send red roses on Valentine's Day? If you ask the average woman if Red Rose are her favorite, most will tell you no. Don't believe me? Try asking them. Year round we sell lots and lots of red roses but we also sell roses in other colors such as peach (like above), pink, yellow, orange, white and even purple.
