How to Order Funeral Flowers - Part 1 Casket and Urn Flowers

Image
It might sound very strange but some of our best read blogs are about Sympathy Flowers  probably because folks don't know what is appropriate to send.  Whether it's for an immediate family member, friend or business associate, there are "rules" that dictate what type of arrangement you should be sending. This first blog post in a series I'm going to write deal with ordering flowers for placement on the casket. Let me say that flowers are always appropriate, even if you are asking for donation in honor of your loved one. Link here to read our blog about what "In Lieu of Flowers" Means . Is there going to be a casket? If so then you will  need something for the top of the casket . These can be tricky to order but this is a good place to let your florist confer with your funeral director. If the casket is full open or fully closed, these require similar floral designs but need to be styled differently. Is the casket going to be only half open? The ...

Elegant but Organic Wedding Flowers

Image
I can not take credit in any way for this stunning bouquet. Customer Care Coordinator Alexis assisted Bride Stephanie's Sister, who was in charge of ordering her flowers. Together they chose the color theme of peach, cream and light corals with accents of silver. Three shades of roses ~ Ivory Vendela, Peach Versillia and Coral Amsterdam roses were accented with white bouvardia, peach berreis and silvery dusty miller and cut succulent plants. The bride's maids and flower girls carried similar bouquet but smaller.  For the men we create boutonnieres using similar flowers with the groom having an ivory rose to make him stand out among the men. Roses, berries bouvardia and cut min succulent plants wrapped with twine and a touch of dusty miller foliage along the back. Designer Jeneen creating all the boutonnieres while Lead Designer Alanna created all the bridal boqueuts. Organic but elegant, wouldn't you agree?

Walking the Flower Fields of California

Image
I can't believe that it's been over 2 months since my trip to California to visit flower farms and I have not yet blogged about it. Forgive me blog readers as I have sinned!! Oh my gosh, what a trip is was and in a perfect world I would tell you about each and every farm, but as I do not live in a perfect world, a world with extra time on my hands soI'm going to give you a quick snap shot of our trip. First off, I need to thank my wholesaler Delaware Valley Wholesale who completely paid for this amazing trip. Well, I guess I technically won the trip but either way, I'm grateful to Tim, John and everyone at Delaware Valley Wholesale. Kevin and I traveled with some wonderful folks from DV and other Floral shops! Here we are at the beginning of our trip and no, there are no flowers but what a wonderful way to start the trip with a visit to the Pacific ocean. Yup, that's me front and center with my amazing hubby behind me.  Now it would take just too long to show...

This or That ~ a lesson in color

Image
It's Saturday afternoon and I'm thinking about the 3 weddings we did today. One was blush pinks and creams, one was creams, corals and peaches and one was purples and blues. It's amazing how floral designs in different colors ~ even using similar flowers can look so different. Case in point are these 2 centerpieces. Created for a Corporate Client who likes to see options, both are valued at the same $65 per table. When I posted these on our Facebook Page asking folks to tell us which was their favorite, it was easily 50/50 with a few saying they loved both. It's amazing how choosing one color theme can make floral designs even more dramatic. Imagine if these 2 centerpieces were multicolored ? They wouldn't really have the same level of sophistication and drama ~ don't you agree?  The peaches and corals are warm and elegant while the purple shades are cool and bright.   The next time you are ordering centerpieces for your next event, why not choose ...
