Fall Flower of the Week

Image
Fall flowers are my favorite.  They are so rich in color, the textures and styles of fall arrangements almost have a personality.  It is so amazing to me to see what flowers do for other people.  Just working at Monday Morning Flowers for almost a year, I have sent some of my family and friends arrangements throughout the year.  The responses I have gotten back are tears, smiles, hugs and happiness all around.  I had no idea what an impression flowers could make!  With Thanksgiving  around the corner, I will be featuring a flower a week for you to get to know a little better until Thanksgiving week.  The hope is that you learn a little more about the gorgeous fall flowers we have in the shop . Like one of my featured flowers?  Give us a call, and have a beautiful bouquet of whatever you like sent to your family or friends – see what kind of impression you make – you won’t be disappointed.  Your thoughtfulness will shine and you wi...

Alstroemeria - Peruvian Lilies

Image
Here's some fun little information about one of our favorite flowers called Alstroemeria .  Did you know that they are native to South America, specifically Brazil and Chile but we often buy them grown in Canada and California.  They are sometimes called Peruvian Lilies and each stem has a cluster of 3 to 6 blooms.  They come in colors such as red, orange, lavender, white, pink, green and even yellow like these shown here. We buy them by the case full and they are a staple for the Floral Industry . These cut flowers are very long lasting and with a fresh cut and a water change ever other day, they can last up to 2 weeks if not longer!  Many of the arrangements featured on our website www.sendingsmiles.com include this very lovely flower. They are especially wonderful because we can get them all year round and often use them in all 4 seasons of floral design. We often feature them as our $5 Friday Flower and they often sell out.  Why not visit...

An October Flower Shop Scene

Image
Busy, busy, busy ~that's all I can say. With 6 weddings this weekend the designers have been hard at work and so I thought I'd share! Below Design Manager Holly is making some wheat  centerpieces tied with pretty brown and orange ribbon, perfect for a country wedding.  These centerpieces are for the same wedding but are a different style centerpiece going on the parents tables. They are lushly filled wreath arrangements filled with mums, roses, gerbers, berries and more. In the center will be a tall cylinder vase with a floating candles. So pretty, don't you think?   Below are the bouquets for bride Jennifer. After a few false starts with roses that were not up out high standard, these Purple Haze roses came in looking lush and lovely. They will match her bride's maids dresses exactly!  Love the peach mini callas in the bridal bouquet too.  Bride Nakia will be getting some of these lovely David Austin roses in her bridal bouquet . I wish you ...

Meet Arlene - The Official Mother of MMF!

Image
Here at the shop , not only are there 2 Vinicombe's running the store ~ my husband Kevin and myself, of course but did you know that Kevin's Mother Arlene also works at the shop? 7 or 8 years ago when she retired from her Corporate Position, she joined us as a Sales Associate and she learned about the business from the ground up. Although she was also supportive of us, she was even more so when she realized how hard we worked! She ended up working almost full time for about 5 years before she went to part time working for Kevin in the office helping him with bookkeeping and office management duties.  This week and I took a quick photo of Mother and Son hard at work in the office. At Monday Morning Flower and Balloon Co, it truly is all in the family!
