Happy Thanksgiving! The holiday means different things to different people. Working in the flower business it's about helping other have a festive and happy day. Our designers have been hard at working creating some pretty floral designs in all shapes and sizes. This pretty centerpiece was priced at only $24.99!   This design is called Skillman Sophistication.   We sold so many ceramic pumpkins this holiday!  Another pretty centerpiece with sunflowers, roses, statice, pods and eucalyptus.   Cornucopias are popular ever year and this year was no exception.   Many of our designs were styled as low and long designs, perfect for long tables. Roses sell 12 months out of the year but we admit that fall colored rose designs just might be our favorite. This arrangement made by our Lead Designer Alanna has yellow, coral, orange and two toned yellow with red tip roses accented with fall leaves, hypericum berries, fresh lemon leaves and huckleberry foliage.  Want to see more of our rose selection? Well, that is actually a bit misleading as September keeps us busy with all kinds of things from Weddings, to Funerals, School Decorating Events and the list goes on. I must admit, however, that creating wedding flowers for sweet and deserving couples is always a stand out at our shop. Take last weekend for example. We had three weddings and although we had to really hustle to get everything created, delivered and set up, it's such rewarding work. The photo above is for our beautiful bride Amanda K (yes we had 2 Amanda's in one day) and her handsome hubby Jon. Their wedding took place at the Boat House at Mercer County Park and although unseasonably warm, the day was spectacular and the lake view amazing. Are you planning a wedding for 2018? Our days are busy and varied and this week was no exception. Our Sales Associate Alexis often designs but this was her very first casket spray. Isn't it pretty? We think she did a great job.  This week we have two weddings, including this one for Friday. Pink must be the popular color right now! We're thinking our bride "Lavender" is going to be so surprised when she lays eyes on this beauty.  Fabulous customer Anna from California contacted us via Yelp and said "Help", I need to send 60 roses and so here you go - who wouldn't be thrilled when this arrives, right?  Our Lead Designer Alanna was hard at work filling our cooler with gorgeous summer floral arrangements like this one. "What's the best way to keep my flowers fresh and long lasting"? I hear this question all the time and my answer is as simple as 1, 2, 3! Make sure there is no foliage in the water. Decaying foliage causes bacteria to grow.  Keep your flowers in a cool spot out of the sun or away from heat sources.  Change the water daily if possible which gets rid of the bacteria that kills the flowers. Can it really be that simple? Yes it is. Flower Food? It's fine if you don't have any. I've always believed that fresh water trumps everything.  Good rule of thumb - if you wouldn't drink the water, then your flowers probably don't want to either! It's summer and the weather outside is hot (with a storm brewing as I type this). In addition to lots of wedding and party flowers being designed, we've had multiple family funerals this week, including this piece for delivery tomorrow. Designing funeral pieces can be both rewarding and sad but we sincerely hope that the flowers we create bring comfort to the families who receive them. This wreath is being delivered to Fire Company for a memorial service. The sender requested a blue, yellow and white theme and Designer Alanna used an assortment of cremone mums, hydrangea, daisies, sunflowers and baby's breath. Measuring 28" wide on an elegant white wooden stand, this piece should look lovely among the other flowers at the memorial.
