Look What I Learned in Our Scarf Tying Class

Image
Hey, look what I learned at our Scarf Tying Class last month. Yup, I was one of those girls who only knew how to take a scarf and wrap it around my neck a few times. Ann Kosco, long time friend and customer here at MMF did a great job showing me and over 25 ladies (as they ate and drank wine, of course) the many ways to use a scarf to fancy up your look. And in case you did not know it, scarves are a fashion trend for all seasons.  Because our Scarf Tying class was such a success at our Princeton store, we are now planning one at our Yardley, PA store on March 14th. For only $20 per person you get wine, cheese and even your own scarf to take home. Once again, MMF friend Ann will teach us all the tricks we need to go from boring to fab when dressing with scarves. The event runs from 6 - 7:30 pm so it's a fun, after work event so invite your friends for a girls night out. Remember, scarves are not just for winter and Ann will show us many different unique ties for summer too

Air Plants and Terrariums - for the home and office

Image
Doesn't it feel good to have natural , organic elements in your home and office? I truly think you feel better when you are surrounded by nature and air plants are a great addition to any setting. Are you away a lot? Do you have limited space to dedicate to plants? If so, air plants might be perfect for you. We've had fun stocking them in the store and folks are loving them. Take this mini hanging terrarium. For only $14.95 this plant is perfect for home or office. Hang in the window, over a sink or attach to a window with a suction cup. Air plants do need water but not often and no soil needed (hence the air plant name).  If you have a little more room to dedicate, why not have us make you a larger terrarium with multiple air plants ? Clear gems, natural river stones, moss, sand - the design options are limitless!    We love these little sphere terrarium plant bowls. Add some colored sand and hit with a touch of water once a week and you are good to go! They work w

Vintage Wedding Designs with Baby's Breath

Image
Here at the shop we are in love with Baby's Breath and lucky for us, our wedding couples are loving it too. What was once considered old is new again and rightly so with all the new varieties available all year long. In this short video I talk about how this lovely "accent" flower can be used in many different types of wedding floral designs, especially for weddings.

Waiting for Spring

Image
With Valentine's Day behind us we look forward to all the Spring flowers that will soon be filling the shop such as hyacinths, sweet peas, tulips and other fun blooms such as lavender statice, daffodils, lisianthus and more. My personal favorite colors are the pinks and purples and don't you just love those huge Japanese Sweet Pea that Kristin is holding? They are enormous and very long lasting.  Soon the Spring weddings will begin and it's been fun seeing the colors and flowers that are in demand for Spring weddings. I'll be sure to post them as the year moves along! For now, let's just breath deep and wait for Spring to arrive.

Tips for Ordering Funeral Flowers

Image
Here at the shop one of the hardest elements to give advise on is funeral flowers . Whenever I have written a blog about the subject, I notices that it seems to draw many readers and I think it's because folks find it so intimidating.  Not only is it something that you don't have to do every day (thank goodness) but flowers can express so many sentiments, that knowing what to send can be difficult to determine. This blog will break it down in understandable part so read on!  This is a Casket Spray . Usually sent by the family, the Casket Spray can sit on or above the casket and is most often sent by immediate family. The Casket Spray can be a wonderful way of representing the person who has passed. As in this example of a loving wife and mother, her favorite color was purple and she loved daisies. This piece really represented who she was and what she loved.  Another piece often sent by immediate family or the spouse in particular is the Broken or Bleeding Heart . T

Prom Flower Trends for 2013

Image
Can you believe that in a few short months we will be back into Prom Season? Well, we are hard at work designing new options for the young ladies and based on the trends we see for 2013, we believe that " wearable " flowers are going to be big. Take this head band for example. Baby roses , waxflowers and orchids accented with silver leaves on a rhinestone band accented with a touch of fresh ivy. What we like most about these rhinestone head bands is that after the prom is over, you have a lovely keepsake jewelry that you can wear again and again for years to come.   Still popular are designs like this wristlet corsage made from dendrobium orchids that are stem dyed a bright blue. This is certainly not your Mom's corsages!  Be sure to check the Prom Category of our website over the next month or so as we'll be adding lots of new corsage designs for 2013! Remember, we have 2 locations for all your Prom flower needs - Princeton Forrestal Village in Plainsboro and 4
