Labor day weekend is always a busy wedding weekend for us and this year was no exception. With 1 wedding on Friday, 3 on Saturday and 4 on Sunday we sure had our share of fun creating amazing wedding bouquets. The bouquet above was created for bride Darlene for her sea themed wedding at the Camden Aquarium. White roses accented with rhinestone starfish (that she found online) and skeleton leaves along the outer edge really gave a beach feel but in an elegant, more formal way. Darlene is the third sister that we have done flowers for! Bride Liz had us create this elegant hand tied bouquet of Peach Donna roses. What I really love about this rose is how full and lush it opens. Not only is the shade of peach anything but boring but it also has more than one shade on the petals going from a paler peach in the center to a deeper shade along the edges. We love creating flowers for special events, especially ones that take place in the home. What fun it is to match the colors and style of a room. Today we set up flowers for one of our bridal families. Because they are expecting many guests at the home starting tonight and all through the wedding weekend, they thought it would be a nice touch to add flowers in various parts of the house. This piece was created for the dining room table and matches the decor and colors of the room. This next arrangement greeted guests as they entered the home. We used flowers such as chocolate anthiurum, free spirit roses, safari sunset and pincushion protea, curly willow branches along with seeded eucalyptus and bronze colored cushion mums. The flowers add a cozy feel to an already lovely home, don't you think? 

I know I have blogged about this amazing flower in the past but after creating a wedding last week (see video in previous blog) using just this single, amazing flower, I felt inspired to talk about it again. If you've never seen "Stock" in person, it's a staple for most florists. Because of it's strong line form it's a wonderful to add length and height to a design. Looking for a lovely flower that grows in shades of pink, fucsha, purple and even burgundy? You have them all in stock. We especially love using the white and rich cream colored stock in our wedding designs. Sometimes misunderstood because of it's ruffly florets, it's important to remember that the buds open from the bottom of the stem upward. As the buds at the tippy top open, the buds at the bottom may turn brown and even fall off. What I love most about doing weddings is the opportunity to meet so many different types of people. What I enjoyed most about working with Kendra and her mother on their Prallsville Mill wedding, was the overall rustic but elegant feel to everything they were doing. The location was the perfect place for this horse loving couple and let's not forget the brides present to the groom... A horse, of course! I can't wait to see professional photos of this wedding but for now, this gives you an idea of both the setting and flowers we created for this very special couple. As  you may know, this past year has been an eventful one for the husband and I. This past October we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary and last month the hubby celebrated a very important birthday, OK he's 50. There, I said it. He might not be too happy for me rating him out but there you have it. It's been a strange and stressful 2 years, as anyone living in the world can attest to because of the crazy world we live in but finally we were able to get away and celebrate these two milestones in our lives. A quick trip over to Dublin, Ireland was in store for us last month and we had a great time.  That's me sitting on the ledge of our hotel room window and yes, as always we had flowers. The bouquet I'm holding was sent by my husband. Tradition has it that he always has flowers sent for our room where ever we go and I love it.  Let's face it, pink is back for wedding designs and it's back in a big way. This past weekend we created a "very pink" wedding for our bride Kelly and with amazing results too! Unable to get her the peony she loved (just between seasons - too late for local and Dutch, too early for Chile) we still achieved that soft, round feel she loves by using a mixture of ranuculus, garden roses, tea roses and hydrangeas in shades from pale to raspberry pink.  Kelly's bouquet was lush, full and hand tied. Don't you just love those huge garden roses? They have become so popular that during prime wedding season there's not enough being grown to meet the worldwide demand for them!  For Kelly's brides maids we created hand tied bouquets using tea roses, spray roses, ranuculus and hydrangea, accented with pops of lime green buplurium.  Can you ever really go wrong with using roses in wedding designs? Ever get stressed out about how to attach a boutonniere ? There's no need being help is on the way and it really isn't that difficult. First, you'll notice that it usually comes with 2 small pins. If your florist only gives you one, ask for another to really make it secure. The flowers should always be facing up. An easy way to remember is that flowers always grow up and so the flowers should point up too!  Next, place the boutonniere on the left lapel. Look for the button hole to use as a guide. Most suits will have them and this is a good way to remember which side it should be placed on. If it looks nice while you are holding it, keep that location by firmly holding the boutonniere to that part of the lapel.  While still holding the flowers, grab the lapel and flip it over. Using the first pin, pin through the lapel, then the stem and then back out the lapel. You are basically making an X with your pins. In this case, I have started at the bottom right and gon
