New Arrivals for the Holidays

Thanksgiving is over, can you believe that this weekend it will be December? This year just flew by. December is a big flower buying month but that doesn't mean that we don't have non-flower gifts as part of the shop offerings. Whenever new items arrive, it's like an early Christmas for me. Take these new Raku Potterworks incense holders. Each one has a different botanical or metaphysical design. Priced at just $14.99 these would make a wonderful gift. Each one is boxed and comes with a description of how they are created. Each is hand made and no too look exactly the same. Raku generally refers to a type of low-firing process that was inspired by traditional Japanese raku firing. Western-style raku usually involves removing pottery from the kiln while at bright red heat and placing it into containers with combustible materials. Once the materials ignite, the containers are closed. This produces an intense reduction atmosphere which affects the colors and glazes.  The d

It's that time of year again ~ the holiday shopping season has begun and judging by the mall parking lots on Black Friday, it's going to be a busy one. Have you considered where you shop ? If you haven't you should. Here's a few stats to show how you can play an important role in your community by shopping small independently owned businesses!  I know you've heard it before but shopping at locally owned small businesses really can make a difference in your community. You might ask how and this photo below shows the story. Consider a small business like mine. When I need to get something printed, I used my local printer Ed at Document Depot. When I need to get one of my 4 delivery vans fixed, I use a local garage ~ Fowlers in Princeton - Gary is the best! When I buy my yummy chapsticks that we give out to our customers, I use Jim at Browndog Marketing. Each of the business has employees who work for them, so my purchases help keep people employed. Fun Halloween Flower Ideas!

This is one of our favorite times of year in the shop. It's a time when the designers get to have fun and create custom designs for the holiday. Here's a sampling of this years offerings! This design features a keepsake wine glass complete with a witches hat with purple and green flowers. Remind you of anyone? We think of the witch from the Wizard of Oz! This design is called Witches Wine ! This hysterical design is created in a keepsake mug that says "I'm Dead Before Coffee" and has a skeleton on the other side. Sunflowers and Roses complete this design called "Must Have Coffee" . This design is called Witches Brew which includes orange roses, purple calla lilies and an adorable witches hat. Meet Heena ~ our longest running employee

It's hard to believe but Miss Heena has been working at MMF for over 15 years! Yikes, where has the time gone. Let's find out a little more about this hard working woman! MMF: You have a cute British accent. Where are you from? Heena:   Although I was born in Nairobi, Kenya but then I moved to London when I was 4 years old - hence the British Accent. MMF: When did you move to the United States and why? Heena: I came here in 1993 and moved with my husband! MMF: You have 2 beautiful children; a girl who's in her last year of college and son who just started his second year (both Rutgers - go Scarlet Knights). What is your favorite part about having two kids in college. Heena: I'm love having a bit more time for myself but I miss then a lot. It's a bit easier to just cook for myself and my husband. I'm proud of the adults they are becoming. MMF: What's your favorite part about working in the Flower Shop? Heena: I love everything. I love the flow

Meet Our Newest Designer Alicia!

If you ask me what is one of the most stressful parts about running my business, it would be finding talented, hard working staff with a can do attitude. Honestly, we have been searching for someone for more than 2 years and then along comes Alicia who not only is the best fit but goes above and beyond what we could have hoped for.  MMF: Alicia, we're so happy to have you join us at Monday Morning Flowers (MMF). Tell us how you became interested in the flower business! Alicia: My career started as a cashier at a local supermarket but the floral manager asked me to help out in that department one Mother's Day and the rest is history. That was 3 years ago.  MMF: What have you been doing to further your design skills? Alicia:   I'm currently attending Buck's County Community College and taking classes in their AIFD (American Institute of Floral Design) Floral Design Certification Program.
