And the Crowd Goes Wild

Image
We post photos of our wedding designs just about every week so imagine our surprise when I posted this photo on our Facebook Fan Page to have it skyrocket to over 100 shares and at least that many likes and comments? Wow, it just went viral - showing how powerful this color palate of purples and blues is right now. We loved the mixture of flowers used in Bride Rochelle's wedding bouquet - including Cool Water purple roses, Picasso mini callas, purple stock, limonium filler, white stephanotis (with purple pearl centers), purple lisianthus (with buds removed) and deep blue volkenfreiden delphinium. This Weekends Wedding - Mid June 2012

Image
The weekend of June 15th and 16th had us doing three full sized weddings and what fun we had working on 3. Ah, how can you go wrong with sunny yellow in June? Imagine the brides maids carrying these as they walk down the aisle at the Molly Pitcher in out on the water in Red Bank. The bouquet above was made using bright yellow gerbera daisies, Gelosia roses, cream hydrangea, white and yellow daisy pom poms and yellow craspedia (billy balls - hehehe). How bright and vibrant they are and we can't wait to see the professional shots of bride Amy's brides maids carrying these adorable bouquets. A nautical themed wedding, accents of blue were added to the centerpieces, place card and altar decor but for the bouquets we simply added a navy and white striped ribbon for the nautical touch. Below is the bridal bouquet of white roses, and white mini gerbera daisies accented with those round yellow Craspedia. A touch of lime green make it all pop and give a very fresh and natural feel t

Teal and Black Accents

Image
It's all in the details when you have accent colors like black and teal. Our bride Linzee wanted just touches in her white bouquet to pick up on her super cool color theme. After much searching for something fun but elegant, I decided on these wired black beads over the top of the teal ribbon wrapping the stems. I can't wait to see the photos her photographer gets. There are also black and teal accents among the mini callas in her bouquet but until it's delivered tomorrow that remains under wraps! I'll be sure to post after it's been delivered and the bride herself has the pleasure of seeing her amazing bridal bouquet - and it is amazing!! Zulma's April Wedding Bouquet

Image
It's always fun to be hired for a last minute wedding and we really enjoyed creating this one for bride Zulma. Shades of peach, lavender, pale pink and white using mini gerber daisies, roses, pom pon daisies, carnations and babies breath combined into a restful and sweet wedding bouquet. Similar flowers were used in the altar arrangement and the table centerpieces. Pops of soft spring greenery complete the look and should make for one happy bride and groom!! Congrats to all the folks getting married this weekend. To see this and more of our wedding designs visit our websites at www.sendingsmiles.com and www.perfectweddingflowers.com

A Real Beach Wedding

Image
Oh my goodness, the line of brides in and out of our shop has been constant (and a bit overwhelming if I'm truly honest)! I predict that our wedding calendar is going to book up faster than any other year since I started doing weddings 20 years ago. On one hand, I'm flattered because it means the word out on the street is that we do a great job with our wedding designs - offer beautiful flowers, fair pricing and excellent service. Wow, I patted myself so hard on the back and knocked myself off my chair! Just kidding. On to the topic listed above - A Real Beach Wedding. The other night I met with past bride Jodi and her friend Jackie to talk about her October wedding. I admit, I was a bit more snippy than usual and I'm going to admit that I probably had put in too long a day, with too little food and water and the tail end of a horrible cold dragging me down. Sorry Jodi and Jackie!! But how sweet was it to come in the next morning to see in my email, sent that night at 10:

Adele and Chris's Lambertville, NJ Wedding

Image
It's always fun to share real weddings with our blog readers and this one is especially rewarding being we will be doing her sister Sarah's wedding next. Working on Adele and Chris's wedding flowers last year was both fun and exciting. We especially loved Adele's wedding bouquet of mini callas, protea, mokara and cymbidium orchids, berzillia berries, orange roses and fiddle ferns. Don't you just love the texture?  Adele and her sister Sarah have a bit of fun. Sarah's wedding is up next and very different than her sisters. But in this photo, the day belonged to Adele.  Adele and Chris seemed amazed by those cute fiddleheads in her bouquet. We're thinking the bouquet would not have been the same without them.  How sweet to have a carriage ride and to take pictures with this beautiful horse right in the heart of Lambertville, NJ.  Lambertville was the perfect back drop. The brown and orange color theme really popped against the fresh green field

Wedding Awards for 2012

Image
It's not a secret around here that we do weddings, we love to do weddings and we do lots of them. So as you can imagine we were super happy to win both the Wedding Wire Brides Choice Award and to be a Knot Best of Wedding Pick for 2012 again this year. Both awards are chosen because couples liked our flowers and our service. We could not be more proud! People often ask if we make a lot of money doing weddings and the answer I always give is: not really, but it is our claim to fame. It's our time to really shine, to show what we can do. We love flowers and we love arranging them but weddings are special. You only get that one chance, that one day, to make the flowers perfect. Tons and tons of effort and time go into pulling off a wedding for a bride and groom and so although not one of the more profitable parts of our business, it certainly is the most gratifying. We think our flowers add something special to the day and we hope they are remembered long after the

A Sneak Peek at a New Years Eve Wedding

Image
I don't often post wedding bouquet photos before we deliver them but in this case I had to make an exception. The days leading up to a wedding are busy for us here at the shop and this weekend having 3 weddings is no exception. I'm really looking forward to the ceremony being held at the Nassau Inn Ballroom tomorrow night. Design Manager Holly just finished her bouquet and it's a beauty. Using flowers in a combination that we often use - roses and mini callas, this one is speaks to the occasion and the holiday with the addition of silver hypericum berries and winter foliage's. Tomorrow nights New Years Eve wedding will be alive with lots of candle light and wisps of silver. The last wedding to be done in that ballroom before it goes under renovation, I can't wait to post photos for you to see of this and our other two spectacular New Years Eve Weddings!! Some of Our Recent Favorites

Image
No two the same, it's what I always say, no two weddings we do are ever quite the same. Just a look at these recent wedding bouquets proves my point. Take the brides maids bouquet above for example. Roses, gerbers and dahlias in red, accented with deep sapphire blue delphinium, green garden roses and accents of fresh buplurium make for a colorful bouquet. If you like the way they look in our design area, you should have seen them up against the sapphire blue brides maids gown! Wow!  This bouquet is set to be delivered for bride Kristen even as I type the blog. The colors are amazing and what makes this bouquet even more special is the unstructured design. With an eye towards it not being overly round or symmetrical, this bouquet delights in different ways from different angles. I love, love, love, pink and brown together and how simple is this brides maids bouquet of light pink roses accented with chocolate brown cosmos. Yes, those are a flower that are a deep chocolate

Colorful Fall Wedding for Jennifer and Eric

Image
Fall has finally arrived here in New Jersey and PA . With temps in the low 50's in the early am and sunny skies, it's the perfect time of year for a wedding. Yesterday we had the pleasure of creating pretty floral designs for bride Jennifer and her now husband Eric. It took a bit of work but finally their vision was transformed into flowers and as you'll see below, with wonderful success! Below is Jennifer's bridal bouquet . Green garden roses (called Super Green), white hydrangea, ranuculus, gardenias and touches of silvery dusty miller. Hand tied for a compact design, we can't wait to see her professional photos! Now here is where the colors come in wow, what colors they were. Deep blue delphinium, orange spray roses (that were a bit two toned, similar to Circus Roses), Santana roses which were a deep orange, orange mokara orchids, yellow craspedia (billy balls) and accents of dusty miller. Each bouquet had their stems wrapped in an antique gold ribbon secu

A Weekend of Weddings

Image
Labor day weekend is always a busy wedding weekend for us and this year was no exception. With 1 wedding on Friday, 3 on Saturday and 4 on Sunday we sure had our share of fun creating amazing wedding bouquets. The bouquet above was created for bride Darlene for her sea themed wedding at the Camden Aquarium. White roses accented with rhinestone starfish (that she found online) and skeleton leaves along the outer edge really gave a beach feel but in an elegant, more formal way. Darlene is the third sister that we have done flowers for! Bride Liz had us create this elegant hand tied bouquet of Peach Donna roses. What I really love about this rose is how full and lush it opens. Not only is the shade of peach anything but boring but it also has more than one shade on the petals going from a paler peach in the center to a deeper shade along the edges. Bride Maggie's bouquet is just so bright and fun, just like she is. Ivory roses, green berries, rhinestone accented stephanot

Sweet and Pastel

Image
Choosing flowers for your bridal bouquet can be daunting - to say the least. With so many options, how do you know you'll choose the flowers, style and colors you really love? When I meet with brides I remind them to remember that the flowers they carry will not only be viewed up close but also from a distance. Brides that are fearful of color should take note that soft shading differences, like the ones in this bouquet, make for interesting close ups and add a soft amount of color against their white or ivory gowns. If you are thinking that creams and whites are just too blah for you, why not add a touch of pastel? Karen's Bouquet - A January Wedding

Image
It's a snowy day here in NJ/PA and Karen's pretty wedding bouquet is loaded and on it's way to her home in Levittown, PA. Roses in 3 shades of pink accented with crystal stephanotis. Hand tied and simple. The perfect bouquet for a wintry January day. Don't you think? Want to see more of our wedding designs? Visit our facebook page at www.facebook.com/localflorist

Yellow and Blue

Image
How striking is this photo of Andrea's brides maid? Yellow has been such a hot color all summer long and toss in at gorgeous shocking blue and you really get - wow!! A small but elegant hand tied bouqueet of yellow mini gerbers, roses, freesia and crespedia were the perfect contrast the the brides maid dresses. Thanks to bride AJ and photographer Lewis Kassel for sharing this fantastic photo with us! Nicole and Bryan's Wedding at the Cranbury Inn

Nicole's Wedding Cranbury Inn , originally uploaded by Georgianne at Monday Morning Flowers . Purple it is! It was so much fun working on Nicole and Bryan's wedding at the Cranbury Inn. The iris was a large part of the wedding decor, as it the Tennessee State Flowers, where Bryan grew up. What I loved about this wedding was that we took the color theme through all the elements of the wedding from the bouquets and ceremony all the way to the centerpieces. We highlighted the elegant iris to their full potential by showcasing them instead of burying them away. Adding accents of yellow in the centerpieces helped to bring out the center of the iris and giving depth by using both light and dark colored iris, also made sure that no one forgot how important iris's are to this couple! Enjoy the video and let me know if you like it!

Stems or No Stems

Image
Susan's Bouquet , originally uploaded by Georgianne at Monday Morning Flowers . Yesterday I had a potential bride call me and ask why bride's let the stems show on their hand tied bridal bouquets. I have to say, I did not know how to answer at first. I understood what she meant, she wondered why they choose not to have them covered by ribbon but I think this bouquet really tells the story of why you might want to let the stems show. How pretty these delicate stems of mini callas are! To cover them completely in ribbon would take away part of the beauty and simplicity of the flowers. As I'm fond of saying - Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and to each their own. Personally, I love when the stems show. What do you think?
